Thank you for your comment. I have Lipschits' book in my library as it is a required text for a short online course on that same subject which I completed a few years ago. In carrying out the required assessments I also argued our position on 607 BCE rather than the preferred date of 586 BCE for the Fall by archaeologists which of course is not based on the 70 years of Jeremiah. Interestingly, this textbook although providing a detailed historical account of the Late Judean period does not provide any/little comment on that 70 years.

Jerusalem was destroyed in the 5th month of 607 BCE and the Gentile Times is correctly counted not from the 5th month in that year but the 7th month when the Exile proper and the Desolation of Judah commenced thus properly beginning the 70 years of Exile and Servitude to Babylon as foretold by the prophet, Jeremiah.

COJ must be very upset with Israeli archaeologists who consistently date the Fall of Jerusalem in 586 BCE and not the apostate date of 587 BCE.

I see so your math says that 605 the starting year of the annexation over Judea to 537 BCE the end of the annexation is 70 years.

605 - 70 = 535 BCE

I would argue that any annexation of Judea by Babylon could only have occurred in 621/20 BCE with the eighth year of Jehoiakim's reign with subsequent rebellion causing the 70 years in 607 BCE.

Ok if you wish to use that year then, that still leaves only 68 years not 70

When I went to school if you add 70 +537=607 so if we use 537 BCE then go back in time the full 70 years then you can only get to 607 BCE

To be fair some the problem with the WTS leaders is that didn't have the secular archaeological evidence to what is present now

This has never been the case for if one has studied the history of modern archaeology right up to the present then there is a strong case for the Land of Judah been devastated for 70 years thus confirming the bible and chronology based on those facts proves 807 BCE

Cypress's decree to release the captive Israelites came down in 538, a year after he overthrew Babylon.

So if you take the start of the annexation at 605 BCE and take 538 off that established year you derive at 67 years of annexation.

So Daniel's dream (70 Years) was close but not at all accurate

Nonsense on both counts as 537 BCE was the date for the Return and the 70 years was a full number as clearly stated in the biblical record.
