Entirely wrong, as usual. The Bible never mentions 70 years of exile. It does, on the other hand, say that ‘serving Babylon’ was the way to avoid exile (Jeremiah 27:8-11). (Funny that the Watch Tower Society barely ever even mentions verse 11 let alone quote it.) Have you read the Bible? I have to wonder sometimes. 😂

Obviously wrong as usual. The Bible does describe the 70 years as a period of Exile- a period of servitude to Babylon and a period of the desolation of Judah which all three elements have become known as the 'Exile' , 'Babylonian Exile' or 'Jewish Exile'. Jeremiah 25: 11 and verse 12 are well discussed in WT literature so just go and check the WT Publications Index and actually count the number of specific references to both verses. As is your usual practice- sloppy research or none at all.

No problem for me whatsoever. The author could have chosen the year the temple was actually completed and said 73 years, but this would lack the favoured use of the number 70 in Jewish literature. Your claim that Zechariah only ‘received a vision’ in the 4th year is entirely contrary to the passage.

Zechariah clearly states that it was in the 2nd and 4th year of Darius that 'the word of Jehovah' came to Zechariah which was the timing of the vision/oracle and not the end of the 70 years period. The use of the number '70' in Jewish literature was usually used in reference to the Jewish Exile as shown by the immediate context of chapter 7 note particularly verse 7.

I correctly state on that page that it was near rather than in the year the temple was completed. I also clearly state, as does Zechariah, that 70 years of fasting is reached in Darius’ 4th year. None of this is particularly difficult.

Being 'near' is not good enough for it raises ambiguity. Zechariah does not say that the 70 years of fasting is reached in Darius' 4th year but only that he received the vision in that year referring to 70 years in the past. That is your problem.

Pointless misdirection indicating you don’t understand this type of literature. The author wasn’t writing a diary as it happened. It was all written later. The ‘vision’ is a narrative device framing the period of ‘denunciation’. Chapter 7 is quite clear about the timing of when 70 years of fasting were reached.

Yes the author was writing a diary as at the beginning of chapters 1 and 7 he gives the time as to when he received the oracle or vision on each occasion then narrates to refers to the past 70 years and current situation with an inquiry about a future relief. Both chapters are quite clear that the 70 years was a past event with a known beginning and end, unlike your thesis which amounts to an unclear end for Zechariah's 70-year period of indignation.

Maybe ‘scholar’ can only get correct answers by copying. 😂 As far as neo-Babylonian chronology is concerned, he’s yet to provide any. He should stop copying from the dumb WTS kid next to him.

Scholar does not need to copy but does the research, reads what others say even opposing views and carefully considers scholarship on the subject. NB Chronology is falsified by Jeremiah's and Zechariah's seventy years and the fact of the Jewish Exile of 70 years. I am unaware of any dumb WTS kid next to him but I find it strange that all of Jeffro's website is all about trying to critique so-called dumb WT Chronology.

I’m sorry that you’re too stupid to count back 70 years from Darius’ 4th year (518BCE). And I know you might struggle with the fact that 587-518 is a span of 70 years. I guess ‘pretty charts’ can only do so much for people with your inadequacies

It is certainly true that if you count back from 518 to 587 you have a duration of 70 years but according to your website you state "The period of denunciation ran from the destruction of the temple in 587 BCE to near its completion" - the temple was completed in 515 BCE. However, Zech 1: 12; 7:5 clearly show that the context or timing of the oracle was in Darius' 2nd and 4th years and has nothing to do with an end of the 70 years. If it was in the 4th year- 518 BCE then why was avision received two years earlier. Did the period have two endings? Was there two separate 70 years beginning at the same time but ending two years apart?

Your thesis along with that of Jonsson makes no sense at all.

It is no wonder to refuse to provide a specific chronology for Zechariah's 70 years of indignation/denunciation as your website's explanation on the foreclosed is unclear to any readerr even with thaid of your pretty chart featured in the middle of the explanation. It is much the same with Jonsson's explanation which you have either directly or indirectly copied. Further, your explanation fails to cite any scholarship unlike Jonsson's explanation of these two passages.

WT scholars interpret these two verses as the Exilic Period of Jeremiah's 70 years beginning with the destruction of Jerusalem and its Temple in 607 BCE to the Return of the Exiles in 537 BCE. Zechariah receives two oracles dated in Darius' 2nd and 4th years which shows that the Jews were still fasting and mourning lamenting the past fact of the Exile. The texts clearly show that 'these 70 years' or 'those 70 years' had expired and were not 70 years of Temple rebuilding as you and Jonsson claim.

The Temple was finished in 515 BCE- 6th Darius's year and the Temple was destroyed according to your thesis in 587BCE which gives a figure of 72 years and not 70 years. Clearly, you cannot provide a chronology for Zechariah's 70 years of denunciation and as this period is presented in the past tense and having already expired in both the 2nd and 4 th year of Darius it must represent an historic period and the only 70 years that would match all of the attendant facts is that of the biblical 70 years of Exile.

Go figure and use some plain common sense!!!
