  The apologist quietly ignores the fact that the passage in question (Jeremiah 29) refers to a letter written 7 years prior to Jerusalem’s destruction to people already exiled in Babylon, so it would be meaningless to tell them they would be in Babylon for 70 years starting from some unstated future event. 😂 Perhaps the silly apology shouldn’t highlight such obvious low hanging fruit. 🤦‍♂️

  The letter by Jeremiah was addressed to an already exiled people later joined by others who now formed the Exile proper of 70 years just as the case with Ezekiel 1:1 which facts establish the simple fact that the 70 years was the Jewish Exile thus the Exile and its message of future liberation would have been a message of comfort for the now exiled population.

  What a load of drivel. 😂 Basically, what he means is you have to pretend the verses don’t mean what they actually say because mommy Watch Tower says they ‘really’ mean something else. 🤦‍♂️ And he doesn’t even understand that he’s an Adventist.

  Nope. You just read the texts, their context then you can do research if necessary which includes other commentaries and other Bible aids. Alternatively, you can also consult WT publications to get a more accurate understanding of matters.

  I work in R&D and read a lot of research papers. All the WT articles I've seen on this subject are more at the reading level of middle school. I recently saw a correlation chart showing religions and education. JW is the most uneducated religious group.

  If this is truly the case then you should stay right away from WT publications for such belong to foolish uneducated people but that reminds me of scriptures that say about the early Christians being unwise and foolish.

  Ha ha. The only passage that mentions ‘exile’ at all says attention would be given to the Jews’ return after Babylon’s 70 years had ended, and none of them refer to 70 years of exile. No wonder he wasn’t willing to provide quotes

  Nonsense. You have replied in haste without actually reflecting and meditating on the passages of scripture listed for your careful and thoughtful reflection. You will notice that each of these texts associates the 70 years with common characteristics or elements of what constitutes an exile and in fact, one passage was addressed to an 'exiled people' thus it is well proved that the 70 years was a period of exile.

  WT critics such as Jeffro and Carl Jonsson share a common issue in that they cannot dare mention the word or concept of an Exile of the Jews in relation to the period of Babylonian domination over Israel. To accept such a concept would falsify their chronology based on NB Chronology because if the Exile lasted 70 years as commonly believed and as it ended in 537 under Cyrus then counting back to its beginning which was the destruction of Jerusalem -607 BCE.

  Thus, the historical and biblical reality of the Jewish Exile proves 607 BCE beyond any shadow of doubt. The said scholar is a genius!!!!!

  Entirely wrong, as usual. The Bible never mentions 70 years of exile. It does, on the other hand, say that ‘serving Babylon’ was the way to avoid exile (Jeremiah 27:8-11). (Funny that the Watch Tower Society barely ever even mentions verse 11 let alone quote it.) Have you read the Bible? I have to wonder sometimes. 😂

  Obviously wrong as usual. The Bible does describe the 70 years as a period of Exile- a period of servitude to Babylon and a period of the desolation of Judah which all three elements have become known as the 'Exile' , 'Babylonian Exile' or 'Jewish Exile'. Jeremiah 25: 11 and verse 12 are well discussed in WT literature so just go and check the WT Publications Index and actually count the number of specific references to both verses. As is your usual practice- sloppy research or none at all.

  No problem for me whatsoever. The author could have chosen the year the temple was actually completed and said 73 years, but this would lack the favoured use of the number 70 in Jewish literature. Your claim that Zechariah only ‘received a vision’ in the 4th year is entirely contrary to the passage.

  Zechariah clearly states that it was in the 2nd and 4th year of Darius that 'the word of Jehovah' came to Zechariah which was the timing of the vision/oracle and not the end of the 70 years period. The use of the number '70' in Jewish literature was usually used in reference to the Jewish Exile as shown by the immediate context of chapter 7 note particularly verse 7.

  I correctly state on that page that it was near rather than in the year the temple was completed. I also clearly state, as does Zechariah, that 70 years of fasting is reached in Darius’ 4th year. None of this is particularly difficult.

  Being 'near' is not good enough for it raises ambiguity. Zechariah does not say that the 70 years of fasting is reached in Darius' 4th year but only that he received the vision in that year referring to 70 years in the past. That is your problem.

  Pointless misdirection indicating you don’t understand this type of literature. The author wasn’t writing a diary as it happened. It was all written later. The ‘vision’ is a narrative device framing the period of ‘denunciation’. Chapter 7 is quite clear about the timing of when 70 years of fasting were reached.

  Yes the author was writing a diary as at the beginning of chapters 1 and 7 he gives the time as to when he received the oracle or vision on each occasion then narrates to refers to the past 70 years and current situation with an inquiry about a future relief. Both chapters are quite clear that the 70 years was a past event with a known beginning and end, unlike your thesis which amounts to an unclear end for Zechariah's 70-year period of indignation.

  It is entirely mundane that two or more people saying something correct will say similar things.

  Maybe ‘scholar’ can only get correct answers by copying. 😂 As far as neo-Babylonian chronology is concerned, he’s yet to provide any. He should stop copying from the dumb WTS kid next to him.

  But coincidences do raise suspicions as to the source of such similar things.

  Scholar does not need to copy but does the research, reads what others say even opposing views and carefully considers scholarship on the subject. NB Chronology is falsified by Jeremiah's and Zechariah's seventy years and the fact of the Jewish Exile of 70 years. I am unaware of any dumb WTS kid next to him but I find it strange that all of Jeffro's website is all about trying to critique so-called dumb WT Chronology.
