"Special Talk" simply means "not in the usual weekly schedule". There is nothing special about anything WTC does. It is all Wash, Rinse and Repeat.

Earnest, I appreciate your accuracy in calling out the change of policy. It is true that the policy has changed but it still allows the JC to make some decisions on their own despite their lack of qualifications. They often make judgement calls that reflect lack of proper training. In my dealings with the Branch, their legal advice directed the JC to take the minimal action required by law with no regard for the victim.

Where CSA is concerned, JWs need to call the police and let the police sort through the CRIME. Police are the legally designated entity for dealing with this type of CRIME, and they have resources for determining guilt that JC's do not have. As well, they have trained personnel that know how to assist victims without re-traumatizing them.

Then, based on the findings of the police, the JC could act accordingly with the accused. I am certain that a chimp with half of his brain tied behind his back, could re-write the WTC policy to make it legally correct and helpful. So why are they struggling still? They seek to shield pedophiles who might cut a deal with prosecutors by naming other pedos, unraveling the whole thing.

It is known to law enforcement that pedophiles often know other pedophiles. WTC fears that they will rat others out and the bread crumbs will lead back to Bethel. When a judicial committee calls Legal, there can be long waits while the attorney searches - searches for what? They are supposed to be state experts, but they are conducting other searches. The meta data they have for the 3 databases helps them find links between people. I have long suspected that they are looking to see if relationships might be exposed. The bad advice they have been known to give were rookie mistakes - or were they? Perhaps other former elders could weigh in.

WTC really needs to keep their mouth closed on this subject. They have no freeness of speech when it comes to free gifts and even less where wages are concerned. I would suggest that anyone associating with them wear thick rubber gloves and be grounded properly at all times.

apparently he writes a weekly (weakly?

) blog as well as having written this book where he claims he disses the claims of "apostates".. to know what apostates are saying he has to be engaging with them or tuning into websites like this one, contravening the gb's direction not to do so.

Sadly, I did my share of apologizing for WTC when I was a starry-eyed follower. Why did I do it? Partly to convince myself because I had lots of doubts and enough insider knowledge to know that the doctrine was wrong (for the most part). I also knew that there was very little genuine love among the R&F and no love at all from the GB who were using the publishers as a cash purse. Eventually I became disgusted with myself and I stopped. Then I left.

Honestly, I feel sorry for tom harley. He is going through the same I went through. Maybe he will eventually find comfort.

as witnesses we always looked forward to the new world but the talks were more about the incoming king and man’s freedom from oppression.

although we looked forward to the good things ,we recognised that initially things may be hard .

we would have to cope with physical work , and lack of many things we were used to today.

FedUpJw, apostasy is the new racism. Anytime JWs don't like what they hear, they get out the apostasy paintbrush. They cannot be honest with themselves, much less anyone else.

Bringing abusers to justice is difficult when there are so many lobbying against the effort. That any progress is made at all is remarkable. However, it appears that the spotlight is shing brighter on this criminal activity. Recently the Biden Administration tossed out the statute of limitations on prosecuting pedophiles so there will no doubt be more cases that surface in the U.S.

Reporting child abuse in JW Land still carries a heavy penalty, even when there are multiple witnesses. Speaking out will get you DF'd - period. This is not likely to change until WTC is no more.

Those were good questions that WTC will never answer. They have prospered materially as they claim to be in the favored position as the true religion. As this comes to an end, accusations fly and the evidence piles up that they were never offering truth, just contrarianism. To gather followers from other religions, they must be divided first.

Jesus said the identiftying mark of his followers was love. Find loving people who believe in Christ and you have identified the ones to associate with as brothers.

Vanderhoven aptly pointed out that Jesus denounced the Scribes and Pharisees - he NEVER apologized for them as they were were unapologetic, knowing fully what they were doing.

On the otherhand, while being executed, he did intercede for the ones who directly executed him, because as he said, "They do not know what they are doing".

Watchtower knows what they are doing and are not attempting to change course. Please don't apologize for them - they are capable of reforming so let them if they so choose.

"The Truth"

we all know that jws consider the wt religion to be "the truth" and refer to it as such.. granted, that phrase is used repeatedly in the literature and from the platform.. but it's obvious that much of what the organization used to require jws to teach house-to-house as important truths--even within our own lifetimes--has been abandoned.

it's been replaced by "new light" and "refined understanding.

what's meant by "the 1914 generation" is a prime example.. in fact, i think it would be hard to find another religion that has changed so many of its teachings, especially in such a short period of time.. so why do jws still believe their religion to be "the truth"?.

It is also part of their decades old branding. The “truth” is theirs and theirs only, even if it changes faster than Meme stocks. They have it because they are “special” and the only ones marked for survival. That message sells AND controls the buyers who purchase it.
