Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
by jwundubbed ini found out recently that michelangelo's painting of adam on the sistine chapel depicts him without a belly button.
i had never noticed this before and it makes sense that neither adam nor eve would have belly buttons, not having been born in the usual way.
then i realized all the first animals were created rather than born, according to the religious views of the origin of life.

Time is the greatest invention of all time. Without it, everything would happen all at once and be over.

VP Harris provides the philosophical answer: "So, when you think about it, there is great significance to the passage of time ...And there is such great significance to the passage of time when we think about a day in the life of our children."
Her great depth gives me hope for enlightenment when I reflect on the passage of time which must be considered as time passes and moves from where we were to where we are going, and the significance of change from where we were to where we might be as time passes in a day or days which represent the duality of change and the passage of time from where we were and where we could be as time passes and it's significance.

The boy who has cried wolf - for nearly 140 years!
by BoogerMan in"when will this hope be fulfilled?
the bible foretold events that would signal that god’s kingdom is about to begin its rule over the earth.
present world conditions match what the bible foretold.

WTC's MULTI-GENERATIONAL CONTROL
I have never faulted sincere students of the Bible who have a sense of urgency for recognizing the fulfillment of Bible prophecy.
THE GULLIBLE
However, it is common for someone who longs for change to draw false conclusions since their desire for change clouds judgement and reason.
THE CHARLATANS
It is also common for charlatans to manipulate others who share the desire for a friendlier world to live in.
Enter WTC - they are master manipulators of people. In my case, my great grandparents lived their lives, holding their breaths expecting the end of the system. Then my grandparents bought into the scheme which benefitted WTC financially. Then my parents dramatically aligned their lives to walk in lock-step with WTC , expecting to be in the scenic pictures published in the pages of the printed material by WTC. My siblings also followed the life-altering teachings and refused to benefit themselves by education that WTC condemned. Now their children are doing likewise and they hope that their children will do likewise as they get older.
ENDING THE CYCLE OF CONTROL
My family represents 5 generations of devotion to WTC. They have virtually no communication with anyone in the family who chooses not follow WTC. I believe that this cycle will end as availability of factual exposure grows. Posters on this site and others have provided the illumination that should help sincere persons to see through the WTC ruse. The balanced comments have great value. I thank all the ones who take the time to add their feedback and experiences, and to the administrator who keeps the site going. Your efforts have made a positive difference in my life.

any JW construction going on other than Warwick?
by Magnum inis anybody aware of any kingdom hall builds going on or any kind of ldc activity?
i've been wanting to ask this, and committeechairman's question at the end of this thread, http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/289353/ldc-semininar?page=4&size=20, moved me to go ahead and ask.. i've kind of wondered whether the org leaders got rid of rbcs and instituted the ldc arrangement because they wanted to be able to stop or slow down construction without it being obvious.
if the rbcs were still in existence, it would be obvious that there's nothing (or almost nothing) going on (if that really is the way it is) because rbc personnel would be idle when they were used to being busy.

Balaamsass2,
WTC's refusal to provide financial transparency is not due to pools of cash they are bathing in. It is because the members equate divine blessings with cash. They are strapped financially and need to sell KH's to make ends meet.
La Francia's comments are spot on and I know them to be true.

Is 1st Century advice on marriage still relevant in today’s modern world?
by liam inrepublicans want to make a law that forbids ‘uncontested divorce”.
they based this on this scripture.. matthew 19. is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?”.
4 “haven’t you read,” jesus replied, “that at the beginning the creator ‘made them male and female,’and said, ‘for this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’ so they are no longer two, but one flesh.

Reported on by The Guardian, NPR and Bloomberg. Very little "push" by republicans...
Here is an excerpt from NPR:
"RASCOE: Well, so in your view, do you think that this effort by some conservatives to get rid of no-fault divorce - do you think it has legs, or is this more of a talking point?
GROSSMAN: I think it's hard to say. I think five years ago, I would have said, there's no way one of these bills would pass because it's sort of too ridiculous and doesn't make any sense. But I've seen things pass in the past couple of years that I would have classified as kind of equally implausible. I think this is less likely to pass because it would really wreak havoc on the family court system, right?"
This is a left talking point to stir up anger. No possiblility of adoption by anyone to even sponsor a vote in the House.
