JA,
So you have no faith in anything living or tangible?
the bible says that a prophet who predicts something that does not occur is speaking words that the lord did not speak, but that is exactly what jesus did, if you can believe the author of mark.
here are the relevant verses:.
"when a prophet speaks in the name of the lord, if the word does not come about or come true, that is a word which the lord did not speak;" (deuteronomy 18:22).

the bible contradicts itself in the matter of punishing children for the sins of their fathers.
in one place is says that it is strictly forbidden, but in another the lord speaks of slaughtering sons for the sins of their forefathers, and in yet another place the lord orders the murder of suckling babes.
here is the evidence:.
JA,
From what I remember, Isaiah 14:21-22, verses 22-23 are also added text and should not be there. Just to many additions from people who thought they would add their slant.

OK! From the way you worded it, "how can the Bible be trusted to give good advice in other matters" did not seem so obvious. It appeared to be a blanket statement.

JA,
Thank you for your response, but it was obvious from your posts that you have no belief in God so therefore no faith in God.
I ask again if that is ok with you, and I will rephrase the question a bit. What kind of faith and hope do you have?

JA,
You said: If the Bible can be this contradictory regarding an important teaching relating to punishment for sin, how can the Bible be trusted to give good advice, or be truthful in other matters?
My reply: You seem to continue to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
The WTBTS cannot be trusted and that is a fact. Does this mean that they have never ever given good advice in some of their books and magazines, and that the advice cannot be trusted?
As far as the Bible:
Thou shall not steal. Is this good advice?
Love your neighbor as yourself. Is this good advice?
Do not commit adultery. Is this good advice?
Honor your father and your mother. Is this good advice?
Can this advice be trusted?
This is just a small sample.
the best evidence that the bible teaches that the earth is flat is found in the following passages.
the first is in matthew: .
"[t]he devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them".
JA,
AS far as your argument being logical, maybe to you and a few others it is. To me your argument that the Bible teaches the earth is flat is lacking.
It's not so much that I think your argument is inadequate as it is presumptuous.

You said: If you're not sure the Bible that describes your God is accurate, how do you know which God it is you have faith in?
My reply: I never said I was not sure the Bible is accurate. I made it clear that I agreed with you that the Bible is not accurate and contains some errors. You need to read my posts a little more carefully.
As far as the rest of your questions, weather the original manuscripts even existed does not concern me. I am sure I will never see them even if they do exist and are not altered. What concerns me is the relationship I have with God as he reveals himself to me. Not what others have written about him or try to convince others what God is to them.
Now, if you would, please answer the question I asked earlier.
Where does your faith lie? Or are you void of faith?

I understand you being hard pressed to come up with any more Scriptures to prove your claim.

JA,
I am not basing my faith in a Bible that is written now or in the past. My faith is in God, not a book.

JA,
Are you sure Mark actually wrote these things and Christ actually said them?
Are these words written in the Bible's today actually written in the original manuscripts or have they been added?
If you have The New Jerusalem Bible, check the reference on the bottom of the page of Mark 16. You may be a bit surprised that verses 9-20 may have been added to Marks original intent. Yes, I agree with you that the Bible's we have are in error, but I also believe that God did breath inerrant word that was penned, and through the ages tampered with.
