Abaddon,
Tell you what, if you don't like what I post, don't click on them.
Carry on now!

Moxy,
I agree with you that the professor would not so easily give up with the student's simplistic analogy, after all, the student was only using the same logic as the professor. Because something is not touched, heard or seen, means it does not exist. What simplistic logic, I agree!
I actually believe the professor, if atheist, would have flunked the student.

ashitaka,
No one in the class heard, saw or touched the professors brain. This did not mean the professor did not have a brain. The analogy the student used was as fitting as the logic used by the professor to try to prove there is no God because the students did not see, touch or hear God. One's disbelief in God does not mean God is not there.

Moxy,
The story you posted is bogus. I have seen it before.
Also, I do not, nor have ever heard of jack trick. Do you mean Jack Chick. I am aware of chick publications, I remember seeing them years and years ago.
The point of the original post, just because one does not see something or believe in something does not mean it is not there or does not exist.

A college student was in a philosophy class which had a discussion about God's existence. The professor presented the following logic:
"Has anyone in this class heard God?" Nobody spoke. " Has anyone in this class touched God?" Again, nobody spoke. "Has anyone in this class seen God?" When nobody spoke for the third time, he simply stated, "Then there is no God."
One student thought for a second, and then asked for permission to reply. Curious to hear this bold students response, the professor granted it, and the student stood up and asked the following questions of his classmates:
"Has anyone is this class heard our professor's brain?" Silence. "Has anyone is this class touched our professors brain?" Absolute silence. "Has anyone in this class seen our professor's brain?" When nobody in the class dared to speack the student concluded, "Then according to our professor's logic, it must be true our professor has no brain!"
(...The student recieved an "A" in the class.)
i was working on my car in the factory {bld.

4 went off at about 9:30. the night watchman could find nothing.
The comments by the overseers shows the real mentality of those at Bethel. I wonder if they would have said the same if it was Fred Franz who jumped?

under what (if any) circumstances would a jw go to a church?
is it the building itself or is it church services they have an aversion to?
can they go under circumstances that are not neccessarily considered "worship"?
Just last week a woman (JW) from the KH I used to attend would not attend her sons wedding at a Nondenominational church.
On the other hand, when my grandmother was alive, she attended the Methodist church on a few occasions to see her grandson, my cousin, get married as well as see my brothers kids sing. My grandmother was a JW for over 50 years.
I know of a janitorial service ran by two JW elders that were offered a large church to clean in my city as one of their full time accounts. They would not have anything to do with cleaning another church. In the meantime that same church had carpet replaced in the pastors office as well as a few rooms in the youth group area by two JWs. One is an elder.
I guess it depends on the JW.

LB,
You are right about Clear Lake. It is not only a mud hole, a big one at that, but is also filled with moss and slime.
I like Barryessa better.
I live about an hour away. I am 25 minutes north of Sacramento. Woodland is the city I live in. I have been to Clear Lake several times. I do not know Dan Walker. There is a California support group on an email list. There are several exjws from all over CA on it. If interested I can email you more info.
