  i explored a few options as i was coming out of the organization.

  nominal christianity had no appeal except that it was without the policing and punishment of the jw's.

  there was no open discussion still and i didn't agree with most of it.

  I am happy for you that your older sister came around and saw you. Hopefully she will keep in touch.

  I have a younger brother who left the WT before I did. My older brother is still an elder as far as I know. I have not talked to him since 1989 when I departed from the borg.

  How do you know for sure that those in the video's mentioned in this thread do not obey God and the standards he sets forth?

  How are they breaking any "rules" as you put it?

  The "rules" you speak of, are they God's rules or the Watchtowers? They are not one in the same as you should know unless you blind yourself to facts.

  I agree, the student used the same logic the professor used in his argument. Neither argument actually proved the point of the professor or student.

  As garybuss said about the WT, it gathers up supporting evidence, and presents a conclusion for all to accept without question.

  Creation Story Contradiction

  the two different creation stories in genesis contradict each other in the matter of the order of the creation of man and vegetation.

  in the first story, vegetation was created on the third day, and three days later man was created.

  however, in the second creation story, there was no vegetation before man.

  It sure does help to read those footnotes in the Bible before jumping to conclusions as so many do.

  "Since this subject matter was very recently discussed at some length with Joseph, I must now decide if he has a very bad memory, very poor reading comprehension skills or if he is very dishonest."

  I agree with you that the professor would not so easily give up with the student's simplistic analogy, after all, the student was only using the same logic as the professor. Because something is not touched, heard or seen, means it does not exist. What simplistic logic, I agree!

  I actually believe the professor, if atheist, would have flunked the student.
