  I'm not sure what the reason the WT$ set it up like this. Is this happening in other regions? paladin:

  Among the reasons might be:

  1) making a bigger show, jw crowds with lapel cards walking in crowded cities like Vancouver . publicity, advertise, advertise.

  2) in the disenfranchised assembly cities, sending a message to local elders, who are the stars of the yearly boost fest, that they are dispensable . (that is why that these are lukewarm , if not also unsympathetic to plight of the many marginalized elderly, families, that do not want to waste the energy, the thousands of $$ for what will turn out to be nothing more than a linked video event. The R &F already fell used as mere props. extras.

  3) keep churning among the jws at a maximum, to prevent time for thoughtful reflection.

  Not to say that the 1958 conventions were not notable events, but this is 60 years of unfulfilled promises later.

  steve2 you underestimate the speed of evolution, that switch to predation only happened after the flood, when snakes had stopped talking. Even bacteria and viruses must vegetarian then, how else could Methuselah dodge them for 969 years?

  It use to be stand firm, relax and see the salvation, now it is the Roger Bannister look alikes?

  It was easy not to give up in 1919, the race had a finish line 6 years away, 1925. It is impossible to stop in a sprint like that, with the momentum.

  Those that did not give up after that ( there were no winners) only losers, then ahead were vague wt distance markers, 1941? but then

  in the 1960s, , another ~ 7 year sprint to 1975 , again the wt finish line evaporating, contest hope wasted, only losers again, now we live with

  overlapping anointed centenarians (like F Franz) in a relay race that has a tentative finish line in 2072,** but for the Herd of Other Sheep longer, perhaps 2075.

  ** ( the anointed generation will end before the end) .

  This is historic : for the first time a wt race is under way, where all the participants will either be dead or of retirement age. breathtaking. reporting not endorsing. QoB.

  re Zappa-esque link. The RC Church admits to 1 in 7 Priests to be involved in abusing underage boys and girls, no doubt with multiple victims. in multiple assignments, and that does not include the possible comparable laity situation

  Fixing the wt 2 witness rule, non-reporting should be a cakewalk compared to the RC problem,

  How much money people usually donate to WT ?

  i grew up in the org and never got baptised, however i was wondering recently about how much money my family and old friends are wasting in all that.

  .

  i remember of course never talking in amounts, that it was important to give from what you can not what you have etc but i admit i have no clue how much the average witness gives (say in % of their income).. i'm sure it varies greatly, i'd love to hear what you guys have to say..

  I was shocked to hear, that in this neck of the woods, the take is about $ 100.- per attendee per month. Counting out conscientious objectors like us, and the minors, that takes some serious sustaining. ( that January figure might include last minute year-end contributions for tax purposes)

  25 and knows the illustration of the virgins with the lamps.

  i have mentioned this illustration in conversation with several dubbies, to draw attention to their foolishness in following watchtower's false reasoning.. in the illustration, there are two kinds of virgins, or people.

  WT illustrations miss the point of progressive revelation, Rev 14.. these are MALE virgins. and of course they need much less oil than the "observers" the Other Sheep, because the anointed will join the future groom long before the end, that the sheep have to put up with.

  --Joining the groom actively in the pre-nuptial bloodbath of Armageddon. nice persons.

  i was recently at a sunday watchtower, reading one of the novels i have on my ipad to help me get through the dreadfully boring event.

  every once in awhile though i'll glance at the article just in case anyone is peeking at my screen, and in the article, i noticed these paragraphs.. 3. how did exile in babylon differ from the slavery the israelites had experienced in egypt?.

  very interesting application of that parable to the wt rubber generation with it's peaks.

  particularly since the "establishment of the kingdom" 1914? question in Acts 1:7 prompted Jesus to retort, that it would not be given to the future GB members (apostles to Herd) to understand time and seasons.

  WT of course has put self-replicating oil in it's canister by inventing the ever overlapping generation. but will it still shed light when the members suffer the burn-out? in 2075?

  Normalizing illegal aliens' entry will create a society of scofflaws, like the countries they come from. Why is it that these countries are basket cases.? because of the people that live there, mostly. exporting these conditions will not enhance the quality of life of the unfortunate recipients of this overflow, particularly if the migrants will end up setting the tone (language) of the resulting brew.

  Many immigrants came to the US to quickly assimilate, to create a unique society. Learn the common language. The current wave , including those from the proud near orient traditions and the south, see themselves as conquistadors, with the entitlement and mission to right past and future wrongs at the expense of the creators of the good thing that the Usof A is.

  PS: as to the hiring practises of 84 Lumber, or Lowe's, or your friendly neighbourhood government agency, the Spanish speaker will displace the native English only citizen. sooner or later.( thanks for the hospitality)
