need some input from you folks.. my daughter is 15 1/2.
she had her best friend for a sleepover last night and this morning my daughter tells me that her friend attempted suicide last week.
this is not the first of her friends to do this and i guess i'm concerned about our youth in general.
I am glad to be there for her but I can't substitute myself for her mom or a professional.
Sometimes the 'Favourite Aunt' can be a good substitute, a listening ear, shoulder to cry on, that sort of thing.

She says her friend is going to counseling but that her mom isn't being very supportive of her and thinks she should "just snap out of it" .
Maybe this is a big part of the problem?
I would think that kids in that position may believe they have nowhere to go and no options, after all, if Mum/Dad dont seem to be helpful, what is left?
i am turning into a cranky bitch.
this whole week i have been anything but fun company, people can get me angry beyond reason by doing absolutely nothing.
and the bank isn't the only one undergoing my wrath, every one around me complains about my bitching-mood.
I just try to recall pleasant times when I get moody, like sitting on a patio with you drinking Stella Artois.
Ahhhhh that was fun, although I seem to remember that evryone there had a can or bottle, Eman had a keg
Stay cheerful Viv
Hugs
Steve.
the news just came on with a "special report" and my husband looked at me and said, "uh oh what now??
" the newscaster came on.. "president bush in a operation that outdone the cia in secrecy..blah blah blah".
bottom line... the president flew into iraq to spend thanksgiving with the troops.

No there isnt a better way IMO, but what difference will arguing (discussing) it on a DB make?
You, me and anyone else all have people we would vote for, in some cases no-one, the polititions themselves cause us to support them or not by their actions (or lack of in some cases).
I guess I never could see the point of discussing politics, those people all seem to do just what they want, even if, in some cases, they promised to do something else when they were trying to get elected.
Maybe a rule that, if an elected politition did not keep promises made, they are barred from running for re-election?
Nah, that would just bring the lawyers into it, arguing points.
Looks like we are all stuck with what we got. :D

So Bush is just " looking for political points" by visiting Iraq
I suppose, if he didnt go, he would be "Ignoring the troops he sent to war"
Try this,
Get a friend and sit on opposite sides of a table
Place a cup in the centre of the table with the handle pointing to one side
Each state which side of the cup the handle is on (left or right)
Now get into a long argument about it
Makes about as much sense as arguing politics

*sigh*
I'm sad.
Dont make me come over there
why is it a social custom to say "congratulations" to a guy when his wife/gf has had/is having a baby?.
what has he done to deserve the sentiments?
all he's done is have an orgasm and spurt some semen into her?
Everytime I have heard ' Congratulations ' to anyone in conjuction with the news of a pegnancy, the actual words used have been "Congratulations to the two(or both) of you"
Sometimes this has been sincere, sometimes just a ' social pleasentry'
I dont see how the words used are such a big deal, most times when speaking, people make the assumtion that others will ' fill in the blanks', and just use the word 'congratulations'
I guess this world is not ready for brevity.
