The siege of Jerusalem was a military campaign carried out by Nebuchadnezzar II, king of Babylon, in 597 BC. In 605 BC, he defeated Pharaoh Necho at the Battle of Carchemish, and subsequently invaded Judah. According to the Nebuchadnezzar Chronicle, King Jehoiakim of Judah rebelled against Babylonian rule, but Nebuchadnezzar captured the city and installed Zedekiah as ruler.

Siege[edit]

To avoid the destruction of Jerusalem, King Jehoiakim of Judah, in his third year, changed his allegiance from Egypt to Babylon. He paid tribute from the treasury in Jerusalem, some temple artifacts and some of the royal family and nobility as hostages.[1] In 601 BC, during the fourth year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar unsuccessfully attempted to invade Egypt and was repulsed with heavy losses. The failure led to numerous rebellions among the states of the Levant which owed allegiance to Babylon, including Judah, where King Jehoiakim stopped paying tribute to Nebuchadnezzar[2] and took a pro-Egyptian position.

Nebuchadnezzar soon dealt with these rebellions. According to the Nebuchadnezzar Chronicle,[3] he laid siege to Jerusalem, which eventually fell in 597 BC. The Chronicle states:

In the seventh year [of Nebuchadnezzar, 598 BC] in the month Chislev [November/December] the king of Babylon assembled his army, and after he had invaded the land of Hatti (Syria/Palestine) he laid siege to the city of Judah. On the second day of the month of Adar [16 March] he conquered the city and took the king [Jeconiah] prisoner. He installed in his place a king [Zedekiah] of his own choice, and after he had received rich tribute, he sent forth to Babylon.[4]

Jehoiakim died during the siege, possibly on December 10, 598 BC,[5] or during the months of Kislev,[6] or Tevet.[7] Nebuchadnezzar pillaged the city and its Temple, and the new king Jeconiah, who was either 8 or 18, and his court and other prominent citizens and craftsmen, were deported to Babylon.[8] The deportation occurred prior to Nisan of 597 BC, and dates in the Book of Ezekiel are counted from that event.[9]

What JWS have done is select only historical information that suits their 70 year prophesy and totally dismiss everything else from archeological evidence and even the bible, its really an act of intellectual dishonesty.

When one avoids an honest, deliberate and comprehensive approach to a matter because it may introduce an adverse effect on personally and professionally held views and beliefs.

Intellectual dishonesty is a failure to apply standards of rational evaluation that one is aware of, usually in a self-serving fashion. If one judges others more critically than oneself, that is intellectually dishonest. If one deflects criticism of a friend or ally simply because they are a friend or ally, that is intellectually dishonest.

I dont think JWS even know what that means, this scholar idiot obviously doesn't

True bible scholars know that, I'm sure.

This idiot who comes here calling himself scholar is nothing more than a JWS./Watchtower scholar promoting this organization religious doctrines.

He probably is counting his time here as well, no doubt.

I posted some things which occurred in that region in that era which makes the suggested JWS time table of events ridiculous......

It took a lot of lies, ignorance and corruption to create the JWS religion and the results were ?

looking back at the jws religion and all what it did to people who joined the results are not very becoming, one might even say regretfully harmful.

here of some things of which i'm thinking about ........ first on the list has to be the thousands of people to date that refused a blood transfusion and died in doing so.. the people that have committed suicide indirectly caused by the jws df social restrictions and other reasons.. all the time wasted distributing the wts literature door to door, only to realize the doctrines the wts (gb) heads created were false and misleading.. all the marriages by young people which were enforced due to strict sexaul behavior, only to end up in divorce for incompatibility reasons.. all the families that have broken up over the decades because of the jws religoius convictions.. all the young teenagers who were persuaded to not obtain higher education because the end is so near.. all the social relationships that could have been fulfilling and good but were halted because someone wasn't a jws.. all the money people gave the wts.

some giving their entire inheritance to the organization which ended up being full of deceit and corruption after all.. .

I think it ( WTS ). funneled people toward the lies, fear and ignorance of the bible, the damaging results are plain to see.

Not a very good representation of Christianity in this modern era but then again religious charlatanism never usually is.

All the time people spent building or renovating Kingdom Halls or other buildings owned by the WTS. most of the time these building being sold for a large financial profit to the WTS.

It all seems like a huge human waste of time and energy to accomplish little but cause so much harm to people..

The calculation of 1914 through Pyramidology and how they use Daniel chapter 4 of 2,520 years, from 607 BC until 1914 are really acts of apostasy according to scripture.

Thats why most Christian based faiths have not done so, but the leaders of the WTS were more pressed to sell literature than adhere to scripture.

When you closely examine the events concerning the ancient Israelites of that era and that of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, it clarifies the difference of servitude, desolation and exile.

There was a lot of historical subsequent of events which happened to the inhabitants of Jerusalem by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar from the beginning of servitude to him right to their return from exile which JWS are dishonestly dismissive about .

One must remember and keep in mind that JWS are trained/brainwashed to only accept expressed information that is sanctioned and approved by god's holy spirit, which is provided through the GB Watchtower heads, so its not surprising at all that when you discuss certain subjects objectively they are closed minded and become intellectually dishonest .

So WTS information is accurately truthful and outside worldly information is false

The WTS/GB heads in reality were and still are novice bible theologians who are avowed to promote their own doctrines they make, to sell them and enforce them at will even though they are not supported by the bible or secular knowledge, they essentially created a worldly Kingdom of their own devise and as expected they plan to keep what they have established and acquired.
