  and one of my jw relatives said they were told by some elders that meetings and field service will resume before the end of the year.. they said this covid virus was a test, like when the romans breached jerusalem and retreated, only to come back later and sack jerusalem.

  I see Rutherford as a opportunistic con man who lived the best life possible while being a money and power grabbing religoius charlatan.

  His personal endeavors created a dangerous and harmful religious cult called the JWS.

  charles t. russell, age of 13, joined the congregational church (dumped presbyterian).. he went (like girl scouts are sent out with cookies to sell) door to door to raise money for the church.. russell hated fundraising.

  we were all taught that "real" christianity was lost to history and was only restored once russell and then rutherford restored it so that the wt could be appointed as god's "mouthpiece".

  but, aristides wrote to the emperor hadrian and gave a pretty good synopsis of core christian belief in 125 ad.

  Regarding the claims posted by people on this site of Rutherford having

  been a drunkard and sexually immoral, what documented proof (if any) is there of such claims?

  Well its documented that he was separated from his wife right up until his death,

  His live in female assistant which the name escapes me, claimed in court regarding a dispute over his will that she was very much his wife until his death.

  As a result it doesn't take much imagination to connect the dots to their personal relationship..

  Actually Russell was the guy who sold the miracle wheat.

  These men were both commercial salesmen at heart, its just that they immersed themselves in religious charlatanism, which eventually created the JWS religion which we have today.

  The JWS religion has a very corrupt and tainted beginning, once you review and realize how it got started through these two men.

  The only reason the Watchtower Corporation succeeded and did what it did is because C T Russell left a good sum of money in it, Rutherford knew exactly how much.
