Prisons throughout America are filled with dangerous people who threaten guards and have killed innocent people who should be incarcerated for the rest of their lives....but have they got more of a right to a lawyer, a public trial and a fare sentance than those held in camp X ray?

The law should apply to ALL.

Just because they are being held outside the US, doesn't mean that the US can change the rules of international law by changing the name of the prisoner that were arrested in a war situation.

The terrorists should be tried and have the book thrown at them, but what about any that were just trying to defend there homes from an outside army? Would you stand and fight against an army that came to your country? I know you would! What if you were arrested by this army and incarcerated with a bunch of terrorists with no means to express your innocence?

Fair? Just? No, scandalous!

most jws i've known aren't that bright, and it seems that most that leave are really intelligent.. just an observation.

I think you've hit on a good point.

I don't think that the witnesses are less intelligent than those that leave but those with a level of intelligence have seen the what the society actually is, and made the move to leave, but thats not to say that there aren't intelligent people in the Org. it's just that most of them are still believers, which blinds them to the truth about the org.

maybe i'm in need of some enlightenment here.

through the means of educational tv (such as the simpsons), i have always thought that a sufferer from tourettes syndrome cussed and swore for most of his waking life.. however, just a few moments ago, i encountered this in thursdays the times:.

manchester united expect to complete the acquisition of tim howard, the american goalkeeper who suffers from tourettes syndrome, within a fortnight.

WoMD ... so where are they?

now, the war is over, the weapons were not used and of course have not been found.. how threatening could they be if they did not even use them when being invaded by a massive force (of the countries they hate)?!

perhaps, as many suspect, they didn't use them because they didn't have them?.

now we're being told that we'll have to be patient and give them time to find them.

Outrage as Rumsfeld admits WMDs 'may not exist'

TONY Blair was accused yesterday of joining a war based on lies after the US admitted it might never find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said he did not know why Saddam Hussein failed to use chemical and biological agents against the coalition advance. He added: "It is possible that they decided they would destroy them prior to a conflict."

His remarks will embarrass the Prime Minister, who is in Kuwait for a victory tour of the Gulf. Both he and George Bush had said WMDs were the reason for war. Robin Cook, who resigned from the Cabinet over the conflict, said Rumsfeld's remarks were "breathtaking".

Former Labour MP Tony Benn said: "I believe the Prime Minister lied to us and lied to us." MP Jeremy Corbyn said the war was "based on deception".

Cook lead the anger at America's admission over Iraq's reputed weapons of mass destruction and said: "This war could have been avoided."

Cook, who quit the Cabinet over the conflict, was joined in his outrage by Labour anti-war campaigners Tony Benn and Jeremy Corbyn.

Former Labour MP Mr Benn said Premier Tony Blair had "lied" to the nation and added: "The whole war was built upon falsehood."

US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld had provoked the fury by telling a New York think-tank he did not know why Saddam Hussein failed to use chemical weapons against coalition forces - as Washington had predicted.

He said the speed of the advance might have caught Iraq by surprise, but added: "It is also possible that they decided that they would destroy them prior to a conflict."

Rumsfeld said there were hundreds of suspect sites still to investigate. But his comments were the closest the Bush administration has come to saying it will never find WMDs in Iraq.

Mr Blair - who with Mr Bush said WMDs were the reason for an invasion - was still insisting yesterday that they would be found.

Labour's opponents of war pounced on Rumsfeld's remarks, with former Commons leader Cook calling them "breathtaking".

He said: "The basis on which the war was sold to the British House of Commons, to the British people, was that Saddam represented a serious threat.

"It is plain he did not have that capacity to threaten us, possibly did not have the capacity to threaten even his neighbours, and that is profoundly important.

"This war could have been avoided."

Mr Cook said opponents of the war were told they were wrong because of the threat from Saddam.

He added: "Perhaps we should now admit they were in the right."

Veteran left-winger and former Cabinet minister Mr Benn said it destroyed the Prime Minister's justification for war.

He said: "I believe the Prime Minister lied to us and lied to us and lied to us.

"The whole war was built upon falsehood and I think the long-term damage will be to democracy in Britain.

"If you can't believe what you are told by ministers, then the whole democratic process is put at risk."

Anti-war MP Mr Corbyn said: "We were led by the nose into a war based on deception and lies. Thousands of lives have been lost and the country destroyed. What has been achieved?"

Mr Blair, speaking as he flew to Kuwait to thank British troops, said: "I have absolutely no doubt at all about the existence of weapons of mass destruction.

"Rather than speculating, let's just wait until we get the full report back."

Lib Dem spokesman Paul Keetch said: "British troops put their lives at risk to eliminate the threat posed by WMDs, we owe it to our troops to find out whether that threat was real."

Rumsfeld said the US could find out "a lot more information as we go along and keep interrogating people".

Iraq was as large as California and searchers had been there only seven weeks. "It will take time," he added.

British ministers have already hinted there may be no doomsday arsenal. Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said last month he was certain only that Saddam once had WMDs.

"George Bush has ensured his place in the history books - as the first man to wage a war and then dream up the excuse for it once the fighting is over.

His administration has spent the weeks since the fall of Baghdad in a slow but deliberate retreat as the goalposts on why the US launched a pre-emptive strike on Iraq haven't just moved - thay positively revolved.

The Presidents presumption that coalition forces would be tripping over weapons of mass destruction after defeating saddam's troop's, has proved wrong.

The justification for a pre-emptive strike was that Saddam had failed to co-operate with inspectors, therefore he was concealing illegal weapons.

Now Bush's aids pushing a new line - confirmed by Donald Rumsfeld's astonishing declaration yesterday that Saddam may have destroyed the WMD's as demanded by the UN, after all.

Weapons hunters abandon outdated leads
Teams begin gathering own intelligence on arms in Iraq

RUTBAH, Iraq—Frustrated weapons hunters are turning away from outdated U.S. intelligence leads, which have failed to turn up any evidence of chemical, biological or nuclear arms in Iraq after 10 weeks.

Teams are now moving toward their own intelligence gathering, based on interviews with Iraqi scientists, factory workers and even neighbours who lived near shadowy operations once run by Saddam Hussein.

The switch comes at a time of lowered expectations and increased frustration among the searchers. U.S. President George W. Bush has said he began the war to disarm Saddam. But there has been no sign of either the ousted leader or the weapons he long denied having.

In the war's early days, American officers said they expected to find such huge stockpiles of unconventional weapons that their main concern was whether they had enough people to destroy the materials.

"It never occurred to anyone, not even for 10 seconds, that we wouldn't find any," said Capt. David Norris, who heads Mobile Exploitation Team Charlie.

The team — one of four originally assigned to analyze evidence of weapons of mass destruction — is no longer part of the search. Its criminal investigators, linguists and counterintelligence experts are now looking for evidence of crimes against humanity that Saddam's regime may have committed.

The team has stumbled on some documents it hopes may help investigators piece together cases against the ousted leadership. But Norris said only a few of the 30 sites they've visited have produced results.

Two other teams are still involved with the weapons search, though no longer exclusively.

The teams had been working under the 75th Exploitation Task Force. But their work will soon fall under the Iraq Survey Group, a new Pentagon effort that will deploy in Iraq in coming weeks and take charge of investigations into everything from potential weapons to Saddam's suspected terrorist connections.

The search leaders hope intelligence tips will improve.

"The frustration level is increasing as we keep getting constant negative results," said Lt. Col. Keith Harrington, 42, who spent years in the Special Forces before joining the Pentagon.

"Intelligence needs to play a main role here," he said at the team headquarters in a windowless, concrete cabana along a man-made lake near Baghdad.

More than a dozen officers and soldiers interviewed recently complained about the quality of information they've been given.

"The initial intelligence we got was old, and the target folders are designed more for internal analysis than site exploitation," said Col. Tim Madere, senior officer for unconventional weapons with the Army's V Corps.

Col. John Connell, who will oversee the survey teams under the new set-up, said the task force will "bring in people with the background to attack sites more comprehensively."

Last week, one team began interviewing nuclear physicists in their Baghdad homes. Norris' team is questioning neighbours who lived near intelligence installations. And Harrington asked his team to develop questions for site managers and other Iraqis they come across.
