Upcoming Neutrality Talk Oct 26, 2020

thanks petra and atlantis for providing the latest announcements from the watchtower.. they are telling congregations to replace the 15 minute local needs talk in the midweek meeting of october 26th with a talk on neutrality.

i am not sure if this is due to there being a usa election on tues 3rd, november or because of their worldwide preaching campaign targeting government officials.

it does sound like it is due to the usa election due to comments about propaganda and political promises.

Most dictionaries define Discussion as an open debate where different viewpoints are exchanged in order to reach a solution. Only witnesses use the word discussion to refer to a precooked Q&A session.

It is interesting to see neutrality defined as not taking sides, since Malawian JW's were not allowed to buy a party card in their one-party country on grounds of their neutrality.

Lastly, I'm wondering why in this case the brothers and sisters are required to use their own letterhead. Weren't you always supposed to use the congregations' letterhead with letterwriting?

Resolution passing with zoom

hi folks.. i put this in practices as i thought that appropriate.

perhaps it should be in scandalous behavior.

not a big deal but an example of the cult-ish intimidation and behavior.. at the end of this mornings short wt review prior to the convention brainwash by jackson, ( melbourne australia) the elder stated "brothers we have a resolution to present to the congregation".

Was this passive consent procedure followed by other congregations too?

I wonder what will happen when in time it turns out that congregations are struggling to pay up. I know in the Netherlands our congregation 'accepted' a similar resolution about 10 years ago to finance our new assembly hall and we had a hard time sticking to the agreement. What can the org do when congregations cannot live up to their commitment?

Dutch judge rules that elders are not entitled to hide behind clergy-penitent privilege

today a dutch judge ruled that jw elders and the jw branch cannot invoke clergy-penitent privilege when it comes to information used in a judicial committee.. jw had filed a complaint with the courts because the branch office, two kingdom halls and a few elders' homes were raided by police almost 2 years ago in search of evidence related to child abuse issues.. jw argued that the information that was taken by police is protected by clergy-penitent privilege.

today the judge ruled that 1) an organization doesn't haven't such a privilege, 2) jw elders don't always act as spiritual counselors.

their actions as judges in judicial committees aren't protected by privilege, and 3) conversations jw have with their elders are often not confidential at all (as per jw policy) so jw elders can't rightfully invoke clergy-penitent privilege to maintain absolute confidentiality, because there isn't absolute confidentiality in the first place.. jw are thinking about appealing the verdict..

Spot on!

Using clergy-penitent privilige as an excuse to protect people that do no deserve protection and expose the congregation and community to unecessary risk is disgusting.
