Has WT actually drafted an End of Days tract?
by schnell ini heard in years past that there was such a tract planned for the great tribulation.
my father at the time denied this, and reasoned that that would not be a loving thing for them to do, to essentially say, "told ya so!".
last year, the bunker videos had brother brown mention "a message of judgment".. has such material been drafted or is this just another bluff?.

Was that officially the intent of that brochure? -

I really hate the word "ones".
by schnell innecessary as it is at times, i hate this word.
for one thing, "ones" is a plural form of the number 1. that is dumb, and it's reason enough to avoid it where it isn't entirely necessary.. one could argue that it never is necessary, but it can still come up in colloquial dialogue when discussing objects.
jw leaders use it to discuss people.. interestingly, jws even did this to jesus christ in their own translation of the bible, referring to him in ephesians 1:7 with "through the blood of that one" where another translation would say something like "through his blood".

Granted, that "one of" business is due to grammar, but I'm sure it's also to give a sense that you're part of a bigger group as well. Surely, "Jehovah witness", as dumb as it sounds, is just as valid as the official grammatical nightmare.

Interestingly, JWs even did this to Jesus Christ in their own translation of the Bible, referring to him in Ephesians 1:7 with "through the blood of that one" where another translation would say something like "through his blood". Why do they insist upon the neuter object reference?
I don't like it. It's tied too closely with cult indoctrination for me. The word takes all the soul and personality and individuality away in favor of identifying every person as what is truly the loneliest number.

My mom often repeated a rumor that Stephen King is a DF'd witness. I have read some of his memoir, searched through the e-book, and I can't find anything to suggest that.
Good call on Hank Marvin, @Tallon. You could add Larry Graham as well for slap bass.
The fact is: If you are a creative JW, your creativity is going to be stifled. You have to do all things for Jehovah. Can you write a book that portrays evil? Can you even have a single character get murdered? Can you ever do anything without Jehovah looking over your shoulder?
This is exactly why I had a few JW friends who are creative people who were considering pseudonyms. How terrible is that? "Yes, I'm afraid to use my real name, because I have this Zombie apocalypse story about a boy wizard, and it might get me separated from my family because we're in a cult."

Hyper Tech
by IveBeenBitten inthis "world event" is a few years away but i'm in the field so i work everyday to prepare for it.. our technology is advancing at an exponential rate.
shit will hit the fan because of it.. even as a jw i knew this was coming.
in fact, i thought that's what the bible was talking about.

"Open source knowledge"? Oh no, the crazy android downloaded every wiki on the Internet... So now in addition to being a superior specimen, he's... Really really awesome at Trivial Pursuit.

If "the Truth" is the truth, why are witnesses so scared of research?
by stuckinarut2 init is an often asked question i know, but it perplexes me.. if witnesses are so convinced that they have "the truth", why is the act of researching information from external sources so taboo?
didn't the bible itself tell people to "use their powers of reason" and also praised ones like the boreans for researching things they were told??.
seriously, if there is no doubt about the organization being "god's channel" on earth, and it alone having the "truth", surely researching would only enhance such 'facts'?.

@pale.emperor, they are given the Deus Ex Machina card to play in any instance when their truth claim is threatened. "New scrolls," "wait on Jehovah," etc.

Some might suggest Prince, but everyone knows he was Prince before he was the JW known as Prince.

Simon's "Evil" Apostate site vs. JWTalk.com

so, i decided to join (it's free).
i am not interested in re-becoming a jw.

It's just cult reinforcement, and it insures that as the WTS bleeds financially, a new organization can be swung from many of the current network of followers. Such also happens when a pyramid scheme is shut down by the feds and all the uplines swing their networks into a new organization selling some other crappy product.
