I've heard of brothers writing in "Jehovah", etc. if they're required to vote.

I know it's technically a conscience decision since 1999, but it hasn't been taught that way any time since. An elder told us in 2009 about an African American sister who'd been disfellowshipped for voting for Barack Obama without repenting. Another sister, perhaps her friend, was repentant and reproved.
Of course, the Watchtower saying it's a conscience issue was in 1999 and WOL goes back to 2000.

Fifteen years later, I went to the UN in person.
by biblexaminer inof all the things that the watchtower has done wrong, what would you say is the singular most powerful thing that you could point a jw to, to crack their eyes open?
what is the singular thing that can be expressed bluntly and conclusively that might shock a jw to their senses?
if you could only carry one arrow in your quiver on your way to war with watchtower, what would it be?.

I just remember being a little kid who had to study this in the early 90s, then again years later, maybe once more if I'm not misremembering, and again when they revised some text.
I wasn't an adult who'd been in the truth for years. "Revelation: Its Grand Climax At Hand" came out when I was 3. You don't get to show me that, repeatedly, and then lie about your involvement with the United Nations.

First off, remember Loki's words in The Avengers? "You were made to be ruled." He talked about submission and his armies came out of the sky above New York. Hmm.
In Doctor Strange, we have:
* a villain who promises eternal life in paradise and slanders a religious authority as a hypocrite
* all information in the library is free to everybody, but some of it is off limits and confidential
* belief in more than the material world
* a hero whose ladyfriend teases him about joining a cult

Newly out, am I shunning them before they shun me?
by schnell ini have indeed made the truth my own, and i am never going back to jehovah's witnesses.
the fact now is that talking about this religion with someone who believes it makes me sort of angry.
it raises my blood pressure.

@biblexaminer, she never thought too hard about it. People like my mom are essentially irrational, and only want eternal life in paradise.

Thank you, One Eyed Joe. I should set my limits and just stick my guns about them.

This should make most reasonable people stop believing in the Bible as infallible
by ILoveTTATT2 ini think that few parts of the bible can make you atheist or at least agnostic or at least kill your belief in the bible as infallible or the work of a loving god as comparing 2 samuel 24 with 1 chronicles 21. most people focus on the 1st verse, but there are at least 4 major and 1 minor contradiction in the chapter (they are parallel accounts).in the new world translation, 2 samuel 24 starts like this:.
24 and again the anger of jehovah came to be hot against israel, when one incited david against them, saying: “go, take a count of israel and judah.” .
notice that it is an impersonal "one" who incited david to do the census.

@ttdtt and Vidiot as well,
Indeed! Whenever it says "to this day" or talks about Moses' death, it's a giveaway that this wasn't written at the time but much later. It explains so much.
King Josiah needed propaganda. If it's true that he was a kid made king, then it makes even more sense, not less. He wanted power. He wanted conquest. The words penned under his dynasty should not be taken as historical fact and have henceforth affected every single person who's ever had the Bible forced on them.
As you learn about the lack of integrity of the Holy Bible, Sean Carroll's Problem of Instructions comes to mind.
