I do love how the Freemasons made a creation myth for themselves where they go back ages, etc. Especially considering what archeology has to say about Solomon and his lovely temple.

Here's what the Masons have to say about Jehovah
by NikL inmy grandfather was a 32nd degree mason.. my parents ended up with one of his books called "morals and dogma" published by the masons.. i remember looking through it years ago and seeing multiple mentions of jehovah.. as it turns out, it's in the public domain on project gutenberg and is there fore searchable.. found this interesting in light of chuck russell's alleged mason connection.. it says about jehovah and the divine name.... whether the legend and history of this degree are historically true, or but an allegory, containing in itself a deeper truth and a profounder meaning, we shall not now debate.
if it be but a legendary myth, you must find out for yourself what it means.
it is certain that the word which the hebrews are not now permitted to pronounce was in common use by abraham, lot, isaac, jacob, laban, rebecca, and even among tribes foreign to the hebrews, before the time of moses; and that it recurs a hundred times in the lyrical effusions of david and other hebrew poets..

Pornography Question
by IMHO inwhy is it ok to look at naked pictures/videos of your wife/husband but porn if you look at another man/woman naked?.
if you happen to divorce your spouse is it then pornography if you look at naked/sex videos/pictures of them?.

I had someone tell me that porn is "demonic", and so is everything else.
In fact, he also blamed all the bad reviews for movies like The Force Awakens and Batman v Superman on those reviewers being addicted to porn. His logic truly leaps tall buildings in a single bound.

My gay friend went back to JWs?
by schnell inone of my best friends was disfellowshipped several years ago, and word quickly got around that it was because he's gay.
we lost touch after that because of the disfellowshipping, but since i'm out now, i just found him online and got back in touch with him.
it was a great conversation, but he said he returned to jehovah.

I am disturbed by that as well, DJS. It's a bad habit from a lifetime of indoctrination.
Usually I notice it after I've written it, but I leave it to be ironic.

I wish I could like all your replies, but the forum doesn't seem to be letting me.
It's a very sad pathetic move to go back to the JWs. It's just sad to see that in anyone.
Preach. You're giving up so much of yourself no matter what if you do that.

@Nathan Natas I once saw a friend make a dangerous left hand turn to get into the parking lot, right in the way of oncoming traffic, things happened, and their gate was destroyed. I'm not gonna say he cost our circuit its assembly venue, I'm just gonna say we no longer had that assembly venue. . .

Not security, but at the last one day assembly here a few weeks back, the middle school where it's held has only one driveway for entry and exit. Just one driveway. And the brothers in charge of parking had allowed it to be clogged down to one lane.
So when we got to lunch, of course people wanted to come and go, but there were no brothers on duty for parking. Nobody was there to direct traffic with only one lane for entry and exit. I saw that, and despite my beard, I handed my wife our bags to put in the car, and started directing traffic until it cleared out a little.
Unbelievable.

I couldn't do that. I'm introspective enough about my own sexuality to say that it's important to be honest and understanding, not subject to tyranny.

I don't understand. I know several gay friends who grew up in the truth, and this makes two who are still believers. I have another friend who married her partner, and is still happily married, still goes to memorials and conventions and some meetings despite the homophobia, and worries about what she'll say to God in the end. I don't get it.
Well, the conversation went great and we're mutually respectful, but he knows I'm inactive. I wish him the best, and I hope he's happy whatever happens.

Suspicious Attitude Toward Married Brothers...
by JW_Rogue inthis is kind of different but i just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this.
it seems that younger married brothers are viewed with a certain level of suspicion in the congregation.
it's like the elders can be friendly with everyone in the hall including younger sisters.

@Diogenesister, we had a few layers of emotional extortion.
We could've just eloped and got married in court. But she didn't want to elope, her parents didn't want a court wedding, and I would've "lost privileges... to protect the congregation".
We could've just dated like normal adults. But that's worldly. -_-
She could've rushed through her study and baptism, but she didn't want to rush because she loved what she was learning and wanted this to be the truth.
I didn't want to push her to get baptized, but I admit, it was incredibly frustrating and I broke a couple times. I could've given up on her, indeed I DID give up on her for a while, and indeed an elder told me he would if he were in my shoes, but I loved her. I still love her.
Finally, after years of this, she got baptized and months later we got married! In the kingdom hall! Yay!
And then her sister got married in court and her folks were cool with it, and I was like WTF! ! !
