The Metropolitan Museum Oasis Bible Tours in NYC
by Beachlover ini just came home from a day in nyc and was taken to the met for the the woman and her offspring tour i went to keep peace and just enjoy my family.
i've been to the metrpolitan museum of art on many occasions and have enjoyed spending time wandering thru the exhibits appreciating the art and history.
since all family members wanted to do the tour by the wts entitled a woman and her offspring, i thought i could just follow along and just enjoy the art and exhibits.. in all honesty, i'm still amazed at this whole tour.

Oh, I bet I know who the 7 days will be named after.
Loschday, Splaneday, Pierceday, Morrisday, Lettday, Herdday, Jacksonday, and Sandersonday.
"Looks like someone's got a case of the Splanedays..."

We were just talking about these tours in another thread earlier today, about the "sinister speaker".
I'm glad you spoke up a little, and I'm sure it was tough.
90% of everything is pagan to which I casually pointed out his wedding ring and the tie around his neck, to which he said its all a matter of how its viewed
How is that any different from mainstream Christians acknowledging the pagan origins of Christmas and saying it's cleaned up and okay for the family today? I've seen JWs pass around a YouTube clip of Pat Robertson saying as much on the 700 Club, and they're so proud to point it out.

Hard to be completely respectful and the JW attitude
by scratchme1010 inrecently at work they conducted an mbti test for me.
for those who don't know, the mbti test is a personality test used by organizational psychologists in companies and organizations.
it is supposed to describe the best way you communicate, the best way of giving and receiving feedback, and for managers that test is supposed to explain to them the best way to manage their employees (i'm over simplifying, i know).. my profile came up as some kind of introvert (and when i was told that i said "what?

Well, ridicule is (mostly) the only weapon against unintelligible propositions.
I hear you. I get a lot of flack from family about being negative too, because I'm critical of our precious beliefs. I don't get it from work though, where my focus is on work.
I always roll my eyes at tests like that. They're just an excuse one way or another. A perceived type is often misperceived and does not ever constitute the whole you. I might find something interesting in a Jungian archetype or two, but even Jung would advise against identifying exclusively with any one of them.

2016 Election getting family members disfellowshipped
by Ryan007 inhttp://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2016/11/21/election-rhetoric-getting-people-uninvited-thanksgiving/94208524/.
sarah-jane cunningham knew that her facebook posts about the election were rubbing her family the wrong way, but she didn’t realize the posts would get her uninvited from thanksgiving dinner.. the 19-year-old said her mother called a week before thanksgiving and confronted her about the facebook posts regarding president-elect donald trump.. “she asked me if i was going to be disrespectful to my family, and i told her that it could work either way, cunningham said.
"if the things i am saying are disrespectful to trump supporters, the things they are saying are also disrespectful to me.”.

What are the ominous parallels? Sure, lots of people have made that connection, reporters and others. What about it?

WTBTS' corrupt translation - to elevate elders!
by The Searcher inthe wt march 2017, p.11, par.
13 quotes ephesians 4:8 as saying, "the bible refers to them as 'gifts in men.
however, the org's own kingdom interlinear translation (and every other bible translation) gives a truthful translation of the verse: .

I told my wife about this as I drove her to work. She said, "Huh."
I'm certain that she knows much of it is BS, but her emotional attachment to this religion seems to put critical thinking on a leash.

Agreed on minutiae and facts. I know I can be casually sensationalistic, but only because I've smelled enough smoke to know there's a fire.
Most, if not all, of the GB members have been in attendance at these tours.
So it's a meet and greet.
I wonder if I could go with a T-shirt that has the full image of Gerrit Losch's court statement pressed onto it. And tight pants. And a Rolex.

I'm glad to hear that about the magazines, because that seemed suspect. I'm confused as to what schedule you or the other poster I quoted are referring to. Is this a schedule at Bethel, or at the MET?

Here's a fun quote from the Exjw Reddit thread about this:
I've actually taken the "Woman and Her Offspring" tour that this group offers. I have to say that the pioneers that give the tours have a sweet gig. While they don't charge for their time (the fee is just the entrance fee to the MET), they encourage tipping. Our group was about 20 or so people and each tipped him $20+ from what I could see. So not only do they get to count their time (many non-JWs would follow us and sometimes he would engage them and place mags), but they also get paid. While it may not be put together by the org, the tours were on the schedule for all those that were coming in for the international conventions last year. In one day several hundred, if not thousands, of JWs were touring the MET on one of these tours.
