  the future for the borg

  it look very possible that the borg could lose their charity status in both the uk and oz if this happens the jw will not have all the tax breaks for the buildings that they have now.and that the headquarters will have to start finding extra money.and as they have done so much cost cutting anyway these past years i think they will have to start selling kingdom halls off.

  We all know people who are so deluded still that they willingly choose WTBTS as a charity whenever the opportunity arises, through Amazon or whatever. I certainly do.

  Even if they lose any or all charitable status, they can just play the persecution card as they quietly shift over to a for-profit religious corporation, and then come out with new light to support it. They can and have done what it took to gain ground and survive this long -- with the precedent of Rutherford losing 75% of Bible Students as he made changes of his own -- and I don't think they'll just give up now.

  Mind viruses will continue to evolve. The antidote to that will always be education.

  @prologos, I like the name Schnell enough, but I chose it in honor of William J. Schnell, whom I really empathized with after reading 30 Years a Watchtower Slave.

  @prologos, is that a quote from someone else somewhere else? Or are you asking here if this is a first? :P I honestly could care very little if the organization decides I'm an apostate or not. They're a deceptive, rotten bunch and I'm just going to live my life honestly. That said, I do respect that what might work for me might not work for everyone else.

  @evilApostate, hi! I guess I would try Swift, but I don't own any Apple products. Man, programming has become so much more accessible over the years. What, nobody wants to try LISP? :P

  @prologos, Madras, OR? About 4.5 hours away, I'm in Medford. I'd like to check out the freethinkers group in Ashland some time.

  The old Hansen case happened here in Medford, and I live 8 minutes away from their house. I haven't gone to knock on their door, because I'm sure that whoever's there now would rather not discuss it.
