thought i'd start a separate discussion on the subject.. those who know me know i'm struggling with faith; i want to believe, some days i do but it becomes difficult.. many believers say there is verifiable proof of jesus' existence outside of the bible.. please post this proof..

when i first became a witness, i always found the teaching about jesus being the arch angel michael hard to swallow.
i did however believe that jesus pre existed as a master worker alongside god (the first of his creation).. but now everything is brought into question having watched anthony buzzard explain why jesus could not have pre existed as it is impossible to pre exist yourself.
also the fact that it all sounds contradictory to suggest, he was already alive millions of years before he was transferred to mary's womb to be born as a human - the son of man?.

At most I can muster 50% faith.
I want to believe but there is so much confirming/debunking that needs to be done that it literally frustrates and depresses me.
I will never have the time and resources and ability to try to confirm or deny each argument for Jesus' existence.

strong family ties & family values did not matter to jesus:.
- a person must hate his or her family and themselves in order to be jesus’ disciple (matthew 10:37; luke 14:26).
- jesus will give a big reward to those who forsake their family, abandon their home, leave their family behind for him.
This is the kind of shit that makes it really hard to have faith.
Unless it was all some sort of metaphor.

No convincing evidence of Jesus outside of the Bible makes it hard for me to have faith in him.
I'll continue to pray to whatever is out there to give me faith if needed.

I'd live my life the same regardless if there is a God or not
I already pretty much live by the 10 Commandments as an example. Most societies value these rules anyways, 10 Commandments or not. It's a good measuring stick.
There is a chance God is not love but most major religions describe God as such so here is to hoping.
If there is no God, my actions don't really change. If there is a God they don't either.

The more I think about it and the more I try to reason on it, the more it all just doesn't make sense. If you are a good person, you should be saved. It shouldn't be conditional on whether you beleive or not.
It's like not saving your neighbor from danger because they don't want to be your friend. That wouldn't be loving.
I still beleive there has to be something. It's a gut feeling based on nothing but faith, but if God is love, salvation shouldn't be conditional based on beleif.

Going to a Christian based site will get me answers from Christians.
Here, we have both.
Your beliefs should be able to be posted without worry and should be able to stand up to public scrutiny.
