  hmm ... all this freemasonry posting has sent me off on a trail.

  found a bit of a spooky site at http://www.newnetizen.com/globalelite/bloodlines/russellbloodline.htm which has page after page about the watchtower and especially c.t.russell.

  they reckon he is from a long line of russells who were masons.

  Quick follow-up: I just realized I did comment about "newbies" finding this stuff all over again, and that, of course, was a comment directed at you, wasn't it? I was rude toward you in a way I should not have been. We all come across this subject for the first time, and we deserve to be treated with respect. My disgust is toward those who come across the subject for the twentieth time, while ignoring the counter-arguments that discredit it.

  I appreciate your follow-up very much, and now understand where your original comment came from. Yes, of course, my original post contained inflammatory comments, but they were not directed at you in any way. Naturally, it appeared they were directed at you, something I should have taken pains to make clear was not the case. If I thought such comments were directed at me, I would have also gotten upset, so I know where you are coming from.

  I have seen this particular subject argued back and forth so many times I'm sick of it, and thus my shorthand disgust. But we all have to learn for ourselves, and I applaud your willingness to learn. May your journey be a fruitful one. I mean you no ill will whatsoever.

  Just a reminder: this may have been the first artificially-induced cloning of a human, but it is not the first human clone. Every time identical twins are born, we are witnessing human clones.

  How we Know that Evolution is a Fact

  there has been a number of threads related to evolution in the last month or so.

  some posters, like penn, subscribes to a form of creationism, which i for this purpose will define as denial of large scale evolution (sometimes called macro-evolution).. even saner people sometimes alleges that scientists are unnecessarily 'dogmatic' about evolution, and that this is 'just a theory.

  ' these people may be recent exjws or jws, still believing the watchtower propaganda against evolutionary science, or accepting similar claims from various fundamentalist preachers and groups.

  Thanks for clarifying your views more. I agree that belief in a creator requires faith, and I have always said that. I do not agree that it requires faith to believe the origins of the universe the way science has explained it. Where it ultimately came from is unknown as of yet (I am assuming we will one day know it, but that is just an assumption). How we got from a pinhead-sized universe to now is very well known and explained.

  However, my comment to you was based on your acceptance of a Creator, even though the origin of this Creator is just as unknown. So you do accept the unknown, although for that you take the proverbial leap of faith. I have no objection to that, and I respect faith.

  I don't know if you noticed this in your post, but look at this:

  The reason I fall down on the side life as we know it having a creator is because science can prove that life begets life but it has yet to prove that the inanimate can produce life.

  OK, so you don't side with science on this issue because there is an unknown involved.

  Until science proves that the inanimate can produce life then evolution has a critical weakness.

  Because of that yet unknown knowledge, you view evolution as having a critical weakness. You decided this based on an unknown.

  As for who created any creator, I don’t know.

  Now you introduce another unknown, who created a creator.

  But I do not let the unknown decide my beliefs.

  Oops, maybe not. You decided your views of evolution based on an unknown. The same unknown that exists in the question of God's origin. So you do let the unknown decide your beliefs, wouldn't you say?

  My beliefs are decided by what I know.

  And on which of the two unknowns you feel more comfortable with, it seems.

  The last time I looked, Ford, GM and many others were in fierce competition with foreign manufacturers who are supplemented by their own governments and guess what? Ford, GM, etc employ people who are productive in society

  ROFL! Brilliant, Rex! You call me Socialist for criticizing a government program you approve of and defend, yet that government program is socialism in action! In a capitalist society, each company would live or die on their own merits. But you argue that we need to care for all those corporate employees with government hand-outs.

  Wouldn't this open up new possibilities for molestation victims? Part of the problem has been that no one molests a child in front of two witnesses, therefore there were never two witnesses to a single event. But if different but similar events can be used as evidence, does this mean that molesters who could not formerly have been nailed could now see judicial action?

  No, because this is existing policy. Nothing new about this.

  Sigh. Believe what you want. I was answering a question as to why certain well-known posters were ignoring this thread. I suggested a possible explanation, based on what I have observed over the years, and expressed my personal opinion.

  Your opinion also counts. There are no elders here, and I'm mystified when a hierarchy is suggested in this place. If you disagree with something I say, I appreciate it when you say so. The sarcasm wasn't needed, but that's your right too.

  I answered a question that was posed in this thread. I'm done.
