Once a lawyer takes a case, he tries to finish it. I haven't looked at Croatian law, and I haven't really invested much time into finding just the "right" quote. But here's a snippet of U.S. rules on ethically declining or terminating representation:
"Optional Withdrawel
[7] A lawyer may withdraw from representation in some circumstances. The lawyer has the option to withdraw if it can be accomplished without material adverse effect on the client's interests. Withdrawal is also justified if the client persists in a course of action that the lawyer reasonably believes is criminal or fraudulent, for a lawyer is not required to be associated with such conduct even if the lawyer does not further it. Withdrawal is also permitted if the lawyer's services were misused in the past even if that would materially prejudice the client. The lawyer may also withdraw where the client insists on taking action that the lawyer considers repugnant or with which the lawyer has a fundamental disagreement."

I’ve always believed that Mark O’Donnell was highly intelligent and a very good writer, and I still believe this. I try to find the smartest, kindest, and most reasonable people available with whom to work and exchange ideas. At the time that Mark O’Donnell began working with Cedars, Mark probably had surveyed his options and Cedars looked like a person whose goals were similar to Mark’s and who had the energy to help put the word out against CSA and Watchtower’s corruption. Mark can’t predict the future any more than I can. At some point, he was probably as surprised about Cedars as the rest of us have been.

I'm trying to picture how this would play out. Dijana and the girls would leave him, but would have no money to pay for food and lodging? With time, Dijana could probably start her own translation business, but starting a business takes time. And translation itself takes time. I think Cedars is feeling safe and cozy for now.

A while back,... maybe a year or two ago,... I remember reading where Cedars had written (or said in a video?) to people in general that he wouldn't be able to keep answering their questions himself. He said that they could write in their questions and that someone on his staff would read what they wrote and might reply. He said that he had family responsibilities and just wasn't able to give enough time to his family and keep answering all the questions himself. I'd never written him nor posted on his channel at that time. But I BELIEVED HIM. I thought, "Poor guy. There probably ARE just too many people who desperately ask for help on how to leave Watchtower, and yet, the man must take care of his own family, too. They need time with him and he needs time with them." So, this new revelation from about three months ago is the reason I started reading this Thread on this website. It's not that no one else has ever been unfaithful to his or her mate. It's the jaw-dropping level of deceit as to "who" Cedars is.
