It was over ten years ago that I attended my last JW memorial. At one of the last ones I attended (sorry I now can't recall which event happened at which year's memorial), I sat near the front row. The elder giving the talk looked at me when he said, "And some only show up here for memorial and don't attend any of the other meetings during the rest of the year". I think he added some sort of snort of disgust, saying something like, "As if that will save them". It was the closest thing to Tony Morris blowing out the match that I'd ever seen or heard... and he was looking at "me".

Deaf Aotearoa flooded with complaints about Jehovah's Witness church
by OrphanCrow indeaf aotearoa flooded with complaints about jehovah's witness churchkashka tunstalllast updated 15:22, october 6 2015deaf aotearoa has asked the jehovah's witness church to respond to claims of a deaf information database.new zealand's deaf community is fed up with unsolicited house calls, claiming the jehovah's witness church is targeting deaf households.deaf aotearoa has received multiple complaints from around the country and says church members visited certain homes because they were aware a deaf person lived there.
the organisation released a statement on monday, saying it was looking into the possibility the church holds a database listing the details of members of the deaf community.jehovah witness spokesman rod spinks said there was no such database and deaf people were not being targeted.the deaf aotearoa statement was posted on the group's facebook page, and received a flood of comments from frustrated people.one woman said a group of jehovah's witnesses had come to her house and asked "for the deaf person who lives here.
" she said they refused to explain how they had her details and didn't visit her neighbours.another said church members had turned up at her work and asked for her by name.hamilton man royce flynn said he had been visited six times over the last nine months, despite repeatedly saying he was uninterested in the house calls.he said the church members were always able to sign and also brought deaf people along, which lead him to believe he was being singled out.flynn said contacted local police, who told him it was a privacy issue and referred him on to the office of the privacy commissioner.he said he had been been in contact with local labour member of parliament sue moroney.deaf aotearoa acting chief executive jill dean said complaints about the church were a recurring issue.

Ixonegal, your last post on this thread is from a year ago. If you don't respond to this post of mine, I'll soon send you a private message.
I woke up 4 years ago from Watchtower. I read Crisis of Conscience by Ray Franz and saw that the Governing Body isn't real. They are frauds and impostors with no spiritual qualifications. I was an interpreter for Watchtower for about 8 years. I want to make a video to help deaf wake up from Watchtower, but I also want them to keep their faith in Jehovah and Jesus. Would you be available to help me with this project? I think I would like to interpreta video of Ray Franz himself. It will be a very short video. I have created a youtube channel for this purpose.

I knew one missionary sister who would knit during meetings. She had somehow gotten a doctor to vouch for her that she needed to do this for "stress", and it was the story that she put out ...and that everyone repeated for her. Why didn't "I" do that? It would have made productive use of that miserably wasted time.

Thank you, punkofnice. It makes my day to return to the comment I posted last night and find your comment... and that you'd read my story. Only, I beg you,.. I"m not "Viny". "Viny" is the man who once sold me a computer. I'm Vintage, and I'm female. Can't you tell by my avatar? It looks exactly like me. I could use it as my passport photo.

About 10 years ago, and before I woke up, I attended my last JW memorial. At one of the last memorials that I attended, the passing of the bread went as usual. As the bread approached me, I took the plate and pased it to the person at my right. Then came the prayer over the wine. As the wine approached me, I waited for it to arrived to me, readying myself to handle it very carefully as I would pass it to the person to my right. Secretly, I always liked being able to smell a whiff of the wine as it passed in front of me. But just as I was about to take the cup of wine from the person sitting to my left, the attendant swooped in and took the cup of wine from the person on my immediate left. He leaned back away from me holding the cup of wine and then handed it to the person who was sitting on my right. I was astonished. I didn't even get to smell the wine. And I felt insulted. What did they think that I was going to do? Grab it and guzzle the whole cup? Also, it is almost certain that a ministerial servant would not take it upon himself to do such a thing. It is most likely that the elders had given him the instruction ahead of time to do this.
I "woke up" about four years ago. A year after I woke up, I partook of the emblems for the first time. Also, I was so glad to learn that I would be a member of the bride of Christ, and would be reunited with my dear Grandmother who had always partaken of the emblems. Also my Grandfather had partaken of the emblems, but he had died when I was a little over a year old. All my life I'd been taught by Watchtower that I would live forever separated from my Grandparents. Especially over the permant loss of my Grandmother, I had cried out to Jehovah. How cruel are Watchtower's teachings!

From the excerpt of Lloyd's book that LMsA gave us:
"After a stressful two days on the road we were relieved to make it to Croatia on August 30, 2009. Dijana’s parents were delighted to finally have us with them. They had been without their daughter for three years, and I could tell they had missed her."
So, if Dijana went to Croatia and Lloyd followed her there... sigh... i couldn't be more confused... they didn't travel to Croatia together? Or Dijana went to Croatia, then returned to the UK to travel with Lloyd and some belongings, again back to Croatia? And , if so, then "They had been without their daughter for three years" wouldn't fit the narrative. Poetic license?

Diogenesister said,
"l also don't believe for a minute that Dijana has control of the family finances."
I agree. Without knowing either one, I so very agree. People who have never been in such a situation (or who have never cared deeply for a married woman in such a situation) may be astonished when presented with testiony that this happens, but it DOES. A JW wife can be asked, for example, by her husband to sign a check of money he will be giving to another sister, because he doesn't want to cast suspicion on himself, ...and then that wife will SIGN THE CHECK. (Those reading, please have the coutrtesy and good manners not to ridicule what I have said.)

Without straining my delicate brain too much,... would you say that the self-proclaimed professional activist's haul is down by about half?

I lived through the era before internet,... back when tele-evangelists were the approximate equivalent of youtube stars. They had their ways of soliciting and collecting funds. Of course, JW's never sent them a dime. But still, when one (or several) of them became famously exposed as hopeless adulterers, even their most ardent admirers expected... and got... a tearful, gut wrenching apology from the "fallen Christian". And then, for a few weeks or months there were parishioners "forgiving" the humiliated "pastor". Usually the wronged wife would appear, sing a song, cry, and accept her husband's repentence. If he didn't have to go to jail for some other fraud he had committed, then he was free to continue fleecing the flock, as though nothing had happened. JW's didn't give it much thought or much mention, as we believed ourselves to be "above" all that corruption.
LE brings the whole theatrical "show" closer to home. We thought that even an "EX" jw would have more scruples left over than what we have seen from him.

And their "advertisment" of their good deeds often leads to trouble for themselves,... being asked for money by people they don't know or barely know, for example.
