Eric Michael Wilson's book has a heading "A Humble Sister Uncovers the Lie of 607 BCE, page 120 of "Shutting the Door to the Kingdom of God, How Watchtower Stole Salvation from Jehovah's Witnesses". Page 122 has the heading "The Record of Kings: The 20 Years that Never Existed".

Just read that Carl Olof Jonsson died yesterday

he was a jw in sweden who was challenged by a householder in the 1960s, who pointed out to him that secular history books don’t agree with watchtower that jerusalem was destroyed in 607 bce, but instead place the event 20 years later.
the reason the date is important is because it is the starting date for jw chronology which leads to 1914 as the end of the gentile times, and the beginning of the last days, as jws understand it.

Punkofnice, I agree. Watchtower stole our lives from us. It was a criminal act. I did eventually go to college. I got a paralegal degree. But no one would hire me as a paralegal, because I was too old. This is what some of the younger ones, who woke up while still young and strong, don't understand. Watchtower stole not only those early adult years... when we were full of life, dreams, and energy, ... but it also doomed us to live out our later years eeking out a living.
When a person, through a travesty of justice, is wrongly convicted and later found innocent, in the US, that person can sue the government and receive monetary compensation. The government can't give them those years of life back, but they at least give them $money$ as compensation,... sometimes $50,000 or more,... for the wrong that the government did to them. Watchtower doesn't even give an apology.

I see from your avatar that you are a male person, so forgive me for the analogy that I'm about to make. I'm female. After Watchtower assisted my (now ex) husband in extricating himself from our marriage, I read a book written by a woman (not an exjw) who had had to flee an abusive husband. I can't even find the quote online now, because the book is so old. But she said something that resonated with me. (I'll try to get the gist right.) It's great that we are free of Watchtower, but the youth, energy, hopes, and dreams that they stole from us, they have no way of replacing even if they were sorry,... which they aren't.

At Luke 22::28-30, Jesus said to his apostles,
"28 “You have stayed with me in my time of trial. 29 And just as my Father has granted me a Kingdom, I now grant you the right 30 to eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom. And you will sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel."
Watchtower deprives almost all of its 8,500 members of the right to sit on thrones and judge.

Nice point, Rattigan350. I found an online zoom group that partakes of the emblems once a month. I hadn't partaken for a year, so I made sure to attend their group recently and to have my bread and wine ready. I like being with other people when I remember Christ's death, even if it is through zoom, and even though I realize that only a few in the group share all or most of my beliefs. It's more of a "recovery from Watchtower" group than an "agreement of doctrine" group. So, I've had my Memorial for this year already, and may partake of the emblems several more times in the coming year.

I want to make "signed videos educating [deaf] about the other side of the Watch Tower religion". Can you help me improve my American Sign Language? Do you know British Sign Language?

I have created a youtube channel and want to make videos to help deaf wake up from Watchtower. I interpreted for Watchtower for eight years, but I did this in South America, so all of my interpretation was in Spanish. That was over 30 years ago.
If you are an exjw and are a sign language interpreter, please post here on this thread or send me a private message. I want to make a short video on Ray Franz. His two books helped me to wake up four years ago. But my signing needs improving, and I need help.
