I'm not sure if it says he is "jealous" in any other part of the bible, but part of their reason for changing the wording could have been to lessen the HUGE contradiction that is: Love does not get jealous, so if god is love, how can he be a jealous god? i think the way they worded it is an attempt to erase that contradiction, probably among other reasons.

Gods' name removed in Silver Sword?
by AmyWatson916 indoes anyone have an explanation about why the silver sword edition of the nwt removed god's name at exodus 34:14?
that verse is now different than the 1984 and 1970 versions of the nwt.
odd for an organization who believes that "god's name is of the utmost importance" as it says on page 195 of the bible teach book..

God does not desire any to be destroyed?
by stuckinarut2 inso if the idea is promoted that god doesn't want anyone to be destroyed, why does he make it so confusing for people to learn about him?.
why are there thousands of differing religions?.
why has "his only true organisation" even taught so many varying doctrines?.

Great points! Also, why does the bible say god hardens peoples hearts, like Pharaoh, which ultimately led to his army's, and possibly his own death in the red sea?

Idiots. When are these people gonna realize that were all walking around on the same small rock with a thin layer of air above us and molten magma below, circling a runaway hydrogen fusion nuclear reaction, and travelling alone through a vast expanse at roughly 400,000 mph?
We need to stop fighting over who's Jesus is better and start working together!

Judge sanctions WTS - $4k per day penalty for not producing sex abuse documents
by Simon injudge sanctions jehovah's witnesses.
imposes $4000-a-day penalty for not producing documents in sex-abuse case.
by dorian hargrove, june 24, 2016. a san diego superior court judge has ordered the church of jehovah's witnesses, also known as the watchtower bible and tract society of pennsylvania, to pay $4000 a day for every day that it fails to produce documents requested in a civil lawsuit brought by former parishioner, osbaldo padron, who claims a church elder sexually abused him when he was seven years old.. in a june 23 ruling, expected to be made final today, judge richard strauss admonished the church for willfully ignoring a court order to produce all documents associated with a 1997 body of elders letter that church leaders sent to parishes around the world in a quest to learn about sexual abuse of children by church leaders.. over the course of the past year, the watchtower society and its lawyers have fought hard to keep the letter confidential, claiming that turning over the documents would infringe on the privacy of those mentioned in the letter that were not associated with the case.. in march 2015, the church turned over a heavily redacted version of the letter.

I wonder what my parents would say about this. My parents have always worked hard jobs, like manual labor jobs, and they've never made more than 3-4 thousand a month, let alone $4000 a day! They've had a rough go the last couple of years too because they're getting older and the work they've done all their lives is becoming too hard. No savings, No 401k, no growing to perfection.
I've got some entrepreneurial plans in the works and if I can I'll pay their retirement because they're good people, but just HALF of ONE DAY of fines the WT will be paying would set my parents for a whole month, hell, that's more than I make in a month right now.
I'm not sure how much my parents put in the donation box but I'm guessing one day of fines wipes out AT LEAST 4-5 years of my parents donations.
So there you go, they've put their hard earned money in the box for 4-5 years to pay for watchtower to keep their secrets for ONE MORE DAY!

Why are some that post here JW apologists?
by ctrwtf inmy rant tonight is against the quasi religious apologists that post on this board.
those who at once rail against the jw's then later talk about how "orderly" and "neat" the witnesses are at their conventions.
those who site the benefits of bloodless surgery to some who have the luxury and time to actually make an educated choice, while ignoring the tens of thousands who've died because they happen to be in an accident or succumb to a disease for which there is no other treatment.. i understand the power of cognitive dissonance.

Religious Divergence Cabal ?
by berrygerry inokay, conspiracy theory brain at work here.. a previous post spoke of rutherford obtaining a monetary backer to invest in this religion-based opportunity.. when looking at mormons and jw's, they are both nutty, but different strains of nuts to appeal to different niche segments of society.. always seems, though, that this an "out-there" idea.. but then, someone posted this video of planned obsolescence, and the light bulb cartel.. light bulbs?.
yup.. the lightbulb conspiracy - planned obsolescence (somewhat ironically posted by thetruthisdiscovered ).

I've suspected something like this in the electronics industry. We all know how you can buy a computer, laptop, tablet, or flat screen TV, and a month later there's a new model 2x as good for the same price. I think manufacturers let out new tech in a slow drip method to squeeze more profits out. If they revealed their best high tech product right away they wouldn't have a shiny new model to release next month.
Whether religions are guilty of this, I'm not sure, but I wouldn't put anything past them. Rutherford himself said religion is a snare and a racket....

That sounds like a horrible dream, the kind where you're extremely relieved when you wake up!
I had a JW dream a couple weeks ago. Keep in mind I've been out for over 8 years.
In my dream I was a teenager (15'ish) again, but I still had my current problem-with-authority (JW authority in particular) mindset and I knew what I know about TTATT.
I lived with my parents and they were pestering me to go to the meeting but I told them I was never going again because of the horrible control and things the watchtower has done.
Throughout the dream my dad was yelling and my mom was crying, and they told me that if I wanted to leave the house again before I was 18, I would have to go to all meetings and service, and not criticize the Org. It was that, or move out at 15.
I woke up soon after and it was a relief, but it sucks knowing that there are teenagers going through that in real life. It gave me a new respect for them and I really feel for them.
