Now what was the deal with this one? My Cong strictly enforced the facial hair unwritten rule. Alot of Bros starting growing soul patches, then the CO cracked down on that too, no more, must be clean shaven, especially MS and elders. I remember my mother trying to explain it to my worldly father and he said "well Jesus had a beard!" I thought, good point. I never quite understood it, but followed it anyway. Can anyone shed light?

Ridiculous ways you kept your "time going" in service?
by HereIgo ini used to go out early mornings with 2 pioneer elders, we would drive 20 miles out of the territory (a big no-no) to look for hikers to preach to lol of course there were never any hikers.
then off to starbucks for another hour lol easy way to count 2-4 hours.
i am chuckling as i write this, what a joke!.

What is the biggest hypocrisy you have seen as a witness?
by HereIgo ini have far too many to name, but ill start with obscene music, gambling and cussing like a sailor.
all the while preaching to "worldly people" about their impending death at armageddon.
thoughts?.

I was so ignorant to the child molestation issue in the org. I had no idea it even existed in the org. Jw's loved to bash Catholics for their problems but boy jw's aren't any better smh

Thanks everyone for your kind words! Its refreshing and I have had fun interacting with you all the last couple of days. I have suppressed alot of my memories as a jw and i realized that isn't healthy. I guess I just had an epiphany that I needed support and to vent to people that understand. Whats new with me? Well I am happily married to a "worldly" woman with 2 beautiful baby girls, in school and working hard. I appreciate all of the little things in life such as sleeping in on the weekends lol and not being judged all of the time. It is hard sometimes, I miss my mother, we used to be close, havent spoke too much since 2011, but ive always been independent and strong minded. Like one of you mentioned earlier, its better to be shunned than to live a lie, my thoughts exactly.

My story: I am a 27 year old ex JW. Former MS and Regular Pioneer at age 19. I was very active and had many "privileges" including district assembly and circuit assembly parts etc. as an example for young people. Began having doubts that I could no longer ignore. I was too young for the 1995 generation change but what did it for me was the Watchtower 2007 May 1 p.31 “Thus it appears that we can not set a specific date for when the calling of Christians to the heavenly hope ends.” Last meeting was Christmas day 2010. Left and never looked back. Have been discouraged as of late as my family continues to shun me, typical JW story. I hope to get to know many of you!

Watchtower view on hunting and fishing?
by HereIgo ini grew up doing both.
while i was in the org, i didn't hear too much about fishing, but all of the co's frowned upon hunting.
their stance was jw's should not own a gun.

@keyser, ive heard of similar situations. Here In AZ, plenty of elders hunt, but for some reason all of the CO's here have an issue. I guess it depends on their background?

Favorite & LEAST favorite CO's? DO's?
by HereIgo insome were humble, but their were a few pompous asses who thought they were gods gift to the org and acted like they were ceo's of a fortune 500 company...

Chuck Waller, Southern Cali and Arizona DO, nice older man, had kids and grandkids and therefore much more reasonable and approachable, didn't come off as too much of a company man, humble.

Bro Konyavich (Spelling?) Arizona DO, always held up a quarter on the platform to help you pronounce his name, very sociable and excellent speaker, I didn't mind him too much

Random Thought: Was Prince in good standing in the Org?
by HereIgo ini find it hard to believe that the flamboyant grooming, earrings and heels would grant him positive status in the congregation.
it definitely wouldn't fly in my old cong in arizona.
he would been pulled in the b room rather fast.
