People Asking Me To Help Them Leave
by pale.emperor ini dont know if it's due to the last convention, the recent broadcasts, the internet or just plain fatigue - but since the convention i've had a few people contact me via facebook messenger asking how i am then cutting to the chase asking me what it's like "on the outside" or "how did you adjust after leaving?
" and asking me how they can leave the wt but keep their families.. my reply is always the same, i show real genuine interest and concern and listen to their situation.
then i suggest a fade, how to fade, to ignore or reject elders visits, to not talk about their doubts to active jws under any circumstances and finally point them to this site.

A Little Direction Please
by Brian J ini'm an active elder, cobe, just got home from the meeting where i handled the treasures part and concluded by announcing a friend of mine has been d/f,.....blah blah blah...and over the last year have woken up.
i simply cannot spill my guts to my wife and children as it would be family suicide.
i have zero desire to bash, spread my feelings, or become an "apostate".

Hey Brian,
This is a tough situation. My advice would be not to come across to your wife as critical of the organization as it may cause her to become immediately defensive. I would suggest pointing out the many failures of the organization disguised as questions to make her think. (generation change, blood doctrine flip flop, false prophecies of Armageddon, etc. I would also show her the YouTube video regarding the ARC and watch Geoffrey Jackson make a fool of himself and deny his faith. Hopefully these things would hit a nerve. Take care.

My friend the 'Super-Dub.'
by joey jojo ini speak semi-regularly to an old friend of mine who i would describe as a super-dub.. he knows i am inactive but over the years i have peppered him with a lot of questions about the org.
that i hoped would make him at least pause and think somewhat rationally about the reality of being a jw in this brave new- post gb 2.0 world.. we have discussed everything from the generation changes, to the u.n. , failed prophecy, flip flops, the reduction in size of the wt magazine, the closing/ consolidation of bethels including lay-offs, jw broadcasting, cart witnessing- etc, etc.. what do i mean by super-dub?
he is a born-in, has missionary parents, he reg.

Joey,
It is true, nothing can convince a super dub that they have been lied to and brainwashed. I have had conversations with JW friends, family etc. about anything ranging from doctrinal flip flops to the ARC and they don't even flinch.

When You Were A JW Did You Ever Stand For The National Anthem?
by minimus inas a witness i always found a way to not have to embarrass myself by sitting down for the national anthem.. i’m curious.
how many of you stood up for the patriotic song?.

I was always taught to stand merely as a sign of respect. I never sang the words or placed my hand over my heart, though.

Jehovah’s Witnesses and “the Friends”
by minimus ini never understood why many jehovah’s witnesses will say “the friends”.
it seems so mormon like..

yes, very common phrase in my area. It was used so often it became watered down and fake sounding. Well, who am I kidding, they are fake "friends" to begin with! 100% conditional love.

Waking up to TTATT: Blessing or Curse?
by Jules Saturn inif you take the red pill, you'll have knowledge, you'll be awakened, aware of reality, you'll have freedom.. if you take the blue pill, you stay in your bubble, wearing rose colored glasses, and feel security in an illusion.. taking the red pill isn't something that's easy to do.
to accept that everything around you is an illusion built up on lies or half truths.
but hey, it might feel good to be aware and break free from this illusion.

Jules,
I think its normal for Ex JWs to go through this thought process. After all, we were indoctrinated into a cult and brainwashed. In my opinion, those thoughts do fade eventually. I left 6 years ago and the first year was rough, but over time, I no longer had those thoughts. These days, the WT organization 100% no longer have a hold on me. However, every one is different. I personally though, could no longer live a lie, its worse than being shunned in my opinion.

Planning Your Exit
by minimus indid you have a plan to leave the organization?
i did.
it took a couple of years but we did leave and never had a desire to go back!.

Yes, I basically knew that I would fade by moving across town and ignore phone calls. It could have been done a little cleaner but looking back, it was a clean fade for a 21 year old and I wouldn't change a thing.

What exactly is grieving gods Holy Spirit?
by Chook ini had an elder tell me once i was grieving holy spirit but i’m not sure how this dickhead knew..
-
HereIgo
I was always told by ignoring scriptural counsel, then one could potentially fall into a course of "sin", thus "grieving the holy spirit." uggh...WT phrases make me cringe.

5 years old! 2001 District convention in San Diego. At the time it was encouraging, now the thought of it makes me cringe.
