FM,
It’s good to have an active ex-Mormon on the board. Could you answer a few questions for me. Not any kind of (prove it, cuz you’re wrong JW bullshit) type question but a few that come from what can be looked at as a collaboration of logical concepts.
I am in complete agreement with your thoughts and technique regarding your wife and the “other guy’s apostates”. After all, in her mind, the JW religion and the JW apostates can’t both be wrong if they are in complete disagreement with each other. Same goes for the JW’s thoughts on and Mormonism. Not to mention the Scientologist, Christian Scientist, Adventist, Amish, etc.
So, What’s the latest on the ex-Mormon take of the two different Hill Cumorahs and DNA issues?
Take care and welcome,
Dave

Satanus,
You are absolutely right. I don’t know what in the world I was trying to say. That seems to be happening to me a lot more often lately. It’s getting a little scary.
Makes you kind’a wonder what in the hell is going on inside my brain doesn’t it? I know it does me.

Satanus,
“Did they maybe consult psychologists?”
Come on man, you’re kidding aren’t you?
The JW programming tries to destroy any resemblance of a normal conscience, independent thinking, self esteem or self awareness.
They replace it with self doubt, co-dependency, Pavlovain denial and unquestionable obedience.
How else could they shun one of their own family members or let one of their children die for lack of a specific medical procedure?
No one with a normal functioning conscience would or could do that.

Blue,
The Watchtower art department does NOT have a sense of humor. During the training I was giving them at the time, one of people asked me if I could show them how to do airbrush photo retouching. So I took a photo shot by their photo department of an old guy dresses up like Abraham. His hand was stretched out with his palm down. I added (retouched) a basket ball under his hand like he was dribbling it.
No one laughed (except me). They, like everyone else I met at Bethel, are afraid of their own shadow. The only laughing or joking I heard was after hours when the drinks were poured. After I did the basketball thing, I was told that the work was taken very seriously in the art department. I could tell a couple people wanted to laugh but Pavlov took over and the smirks quickly disappeared.
Illustrators do slip in things at times as a joke or a symbolic signature (usually their names and usually only on gratis work). On the CD cover art I did for Barb’s CD I put my name hidden in the cover art. It is well hidden but I can see it. There was no purpose other than I only sign pieces of art that I do that I “really like”. I really liked that Piece and the three of four other comps I did for it.
To slip in a personal artistic joke or signature on a watchtower publication would be disastrous for the poor Bethel mite. You people give the watchtower artist way too much credit for independent thinking ability. They are untrained, artistically undisciplined and cult programmed, but, given the context of their environment, they are not stupid.

I know Minnie Mouse. When I am exposed as a fraud like you just did, I bow my head in shame, walk away in humiliation, go sit down in the corner and just cry.
Damn you evil red pimple!
Ya-wanna buy some more naked art pictures from me?
Do you really think the Watchtower Printing Company’s leaders and art department staff are that clever?
I can see where you are coming from but don’t you think their literature and constant “new light” changing causes a sufficient amount of confusion and mental paralysis (as you put it.) (I like that…mental paralysis)? They start the ball rolling with heir rags and talks and because of the constant programming, a case of self induced blind ignorance soon takes over.
They don’t need to monkey around with bad art by untrained illustrators to accomplish that.
Take care,…except you Min. You can kiss my…my…my… butt!

CC,
I just had this conversation (about the spooky hand illustration) with Doug (Farkel) on the phone two days ago. I also had the same conversation with Alan F. at his home 10 years ago when he showed me the book written about Watchtower subliminal art. If a person who graduated at the top of his class from MIT (Alan not Doug) was fooled by the subliminal art conspiracy then I guess it is fair to say that other intelligent people, such as yourself and Fark, might also get fooled .
First off, I repeat the key question of, WHY? It serves no psychological reactive issue (besides minor brain stimulation by exJW conspiracy theorist). It does not induce demon, goat, or dog worship. It does not subconsciously convince JW’s to increase their contributions into “the box”. So why would they do it? What purpose would it serve?
Once you begin to break down any such issue into LOGICAL deductive reasoning components, it breaks down and completely falls apart. This only leaves the “proven” psychological stimuli issue of “people see what they want see”.
I would love to see some of your artwork. PM me with a link to your site if you have one.
Take care,
Dave -

This is about the tenth time this subject has come up on this board. Here is a cut and paste of something I wrote a couple of years ago on this forum regarding this issue.
The definition of "subliminal art" has several assumed definitions. The concept of subliminal stimuli also assumed to include:
-Images of carefully contrived social situations and suggestive body language
-Blatant or artistically concealed symbols suggestive of powerful instinctual drives
-Faint or briefly flashed words or images
-Acoustically masked or backward messages in music
-Metaphor and other "hypnotic" language patterns
Of these various kinds of "subliminal" influence, psychologists usually refer only to the briefly flashed words or images, and sometimes the acoustic masking, when they talk about marginal or subliminal perception. Those are the stimuli used in the subliminal priming experiments that produce temporary, weak psychological effects.
This form of so called hidden psychological influence which I commonly refer to as plain old "bullshit" was brought to light and over reaction by those who buy into one well publicized urban legion.
This was the famous "buy popcorn drink coke" experiment done by the now debunked marketing research consultant James Vicary. In the 50's Mr. Vicary claimed he slipped still images into a movie and those images persuaded people to flow to the snack bar and buy popcorn and coke during the intermission of the movie. He claimed the Coke sales went up 18% and the popcorn sales went up over 57%. It, like your hidden imaging in watchtower publications is bullshit.
Mr. Vicary's experiment was a scam developed by him in an attempt to try and sell his marketing research consulting concepts to eager and gullible advertising clients. When he was asked to prove his findings and show is actual figures obtained by his focus group he was forced to admit he made them up. The only real reactions he got from his little scam was to force countries to ban any kind of subliminal advertising in visual media. What is still being considered as a form of "subliminal stimuli" or "subliminal persuasion" now is in fact being called "Hypnotic writing" that is a complete different subject so I will leave it at that.
I have been in the advertising and illustration markets for over 25 years. I have had my illustration work published in books that also include some of the top illustrators and artist in the world. I have also been too Bethel by invitation of the Watchtower society to consult and do some training in the field of illustration as well as graphic and publishing department management.
I have seen many illustrations published by the watchtower in their original form as well as worked with some of the illustrators who’s art is in question on the subject of “spooky subliminal art in watchtower publications”.
If you think about it, what would a subliminal image of a black mans face hidden in a pooly illustrated human hand, or a dogs face or goats head hidden in a robe force a person to do? Start a bible study with a group of farm animals? Give me a break!
Some of you guys just love a good old fashioned conspiracy theory.

by XOCO inyou guys this has really freaked me out so much tonight as i was looking though my revelation book climax at hand i was looking to see where we had left off and i usually do this by seeing where i have stopped highlighting in the book.. so i started at pg 156 & 157 of the book so there were a bunch of marks on those two pages their are pics nothing special there.. but on page 159 their is a pic of jesus in the heavens where he is extending his handout to get a piece of paper and that's where i notice on the hand that were the wrinkles are supposed to be there is a face like a fetusnow i mean anybody can tell you that is a face of a baby.
i don't know why a baby on jesus hand or what it suppose to mean.
i guess it really shows how the control tower (watchtower) make me a jw feel really shitty.

J.Cannon, can you back your statement up with actual facts about the “commission”?
And BTW, only one or two artist who have ever worked in Bethel’s art department are in any category that I would consider excellent. Are you a professional illustrator that is qualified to make a statement like that? Have you seen their original pieces of art?

TNM,
I agree with grandma Grace about the name change thingy. It smacks of JW inflected low self esteem syndrome. Then again, you may be in the FBI’s witness protection program and it fits in a way none of us understand.
Looking at the gray hair in you avatar photo I will also say, Damn nice hair!
Welcome fellow exJW old guy.

If you dont believe in God...according to the bible you are a fool!
by Blackboo inthe fool has said in his heart there is no "god" how can this?
why do non-believers jump to such a conclusion?
i have notice many former witnesses have lost faith in god because of a a "religion" who didnt measure up to what it claims.

No offence taken here.
The bible also says the sun revolves around the earth. If I was god and I was going to get some people to write a How To Manual for the earth and it’s inhabitance. I would have at least made sure they got that important point right.
How hard is it? Look down, see which big ball goes around which other big ball and make sure it is correctly written about in the Manual.
Sounds like a simple case of miscommunication and lack of proper delegation to me.
