Before I can live with other folks I've got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn't abide by majority rule is a person's conscience.-Atticus Finch-To Kill A Mockingbird
i used to post over at h2o a long time ago and thought i would drop in and say hello.
i am very glad that someone has taken the time to set up another place where ideas about jehovahs witnesses can be freely posted and discussed.
this type of place is a great public service for people who are just starting to see through the thick fog and who are just beginning to recognize cracks in that grandiose, self-serving, anything-but-ivory, tower that has the gall to refer to itself as the truth.
Welcome to the board Atticus.

"let there be light.
and god said, let my people go.
and god said, let my people come.
Prisca and all, I heard that while driving along with the radio on-The Bob and Tom Show. Maybe not word for word but close enough. Just an attempt at humor as I take a leave of absence. I don't care if I ever see another one of those as long as I live. Enough. "Life is not measured by the breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away." I'm going to take alittle time to experience a few of those moments. I've come too far in the past year to let it all slip away.
Auf Wiedersehen,

TW and Frenchy, The above are song lyrics from Innocent by Fuel. I should have been more specific.
"let there be light.
and god said, let my people go.
and god said, let my people come.
"Let there be light." And there was light. And God was lonely resting on the seventh day. He was so lonely. And God said, "Let there be cable." And there was cable. "Let there be Direct TV amd PrimeStar and Pay-Per-View so that my children will have something to watch while worshipping me. Let there be ratings and news magazines and scandals and tabloids and ragtime and rap and Spam. Let my children taste this Spam and resolve never to touch it again. For it is unclean. Let 1% of the people own 90% of the wealth and let the rest have me for their comfort. Let there be food for some and none for others."
And God said, "Let there be the Spice Girls and the BackStreet Boys and Hanson because every generation needs their Partridge Family. Let there be self-steem and spell checker and calculators so that brains become lazy and believe in me all the more. Let there be assassinations amd natural disasters and executions and mass suicides and plane crashes and nuclear accidnets and abortions because my children took that "be fruitful and multiply thing," way too seriously.
And God said, "Let there be Satan so people don't blame everything on me. And let there be lawyers so people don't blame everything on Satan. Let there be toupees for the bald with money and paint for the bald who have none. Let the blind lead the blind. Let the deaf sing to the deaf and let the dumb become spokes models."
And God said, "Let there be war and famine and pestilence on CNN and Prime Time. Let there be celebrities and celebrity golf tournaments and celebrity jeopardy. But make the questions so easy a dog could answer them. Let there be vegetarians, and Vegans and Romulans and Vulcans. And trekkers and moonies and circus freaks and dominatrices
and harlots and haberdashers and hooked on phonics and David Bowie. Let there be David Bowie. And God said, "Lets dance! Lets put on our red shoes and dance the blues. Let there be art for the starving, pornography for the fat and dogs playing poker for everyone else. And God said, Let my people go. And God said, Let my people come. Now let them go again." God said, "Let me entertain you. Let me say this about that. Leave it alone or it will never heal. Let your love flow like a mountain stream. Let a smile be your umbrella on a rainy rainy day. Let it out and let it in. Hey Jude.
From the lost gospel of Bob and Tom.
Peace out,

Innocent-Fuel
*
Satan, you know where I lie
Gently I go into the good night
All our lives get complicated
Search for pleasures overrated
Never armed our souls
For what the future would hold
When we were innocnet
*
Angels, lend me your might
Forfeit all my lives to get just one right
All those colors long since faded
All our smiles all confiscated
Never were we told
We'd be bought and sold
When we were innocent
*
This prayer is for me tonight
This far down that line and still ain't got it right
And while confessions not yet stated
Our next sin is contemplated
Never did we know
What the future would hold
Or that we'd be bought and sold
We were innocent

caught this nugget in news of the weird, a united features syndicate by chuck shepard (clipped from creative loafing in atlanta, ga).
god's will.
a 45-year old woman who was killed as she walked onto i-55 near sherman, ill., in october was revealed to have been a member of a jehovah's witnesses breakaway group that believes they should test their faith (much like snake-handlers do) by standing in the middle of traffic.
TR, Hey, knock it off!! This is a very spiritual moment I'm talking about here. It is written that sisters are required to jump feet first. Brothers dive.
Zazu, Thank you for your concern.Rest assured Victoria's Secret will be well advertised during my descent.
I can indentify with what your daughter calls the cave man thrill-that
obsession with cheating death. Some have it, some don't. There is a railroad trestle near where I grew up that everyone would jump/dive from into the river below to prove how cool(incredibly stupid) they were. I made the jump holding onto the hand of my brother who was screaming as the train approached about having to go NOW because there
just isn't enough room to stand while the train passed. A major
"cave man thrill." It felt good to be cool. Poor parents.

this is sort of a take-off of the "what should the wt do" thread.. i need to get together a board of directors and elect a president and officers.
we need to figure out a doctrine, a manifesto, and a set of disciplinary rules.
we need to figure out a way to fund our new movement.
I've have recently severed all ties with the cult
* http://www.gettingsome.org/come_in.html and am reluctant to become involved so soon with another religion but...why not? I can help Zazu with the music. No wait. I just read that baseball is the main doctrine. Sorry. No can do. I've played roller hockey and lacrosse too many years to go with baseball. I guess this leaves me out.

witnesses.net's and (a couple of years ago) hourglass2's the old hippie modestly says "hello" and enters if not the building then at least the area.
live in europe, am - (i am sorry to say) - a countryman of the unholy trinity consisting of kent, jan h. and norm, and thus well updated with the practises of the observer-thing.

Hello TheOldHippie. Welcome. You'll find there are other old hippies here too. Lots of peace and love but no dope. All wise people. I've
spent much of the previous year as a fence sitter. Several months ago I finally fell off to the side where the people fall who don't attend meetings anymore.
We share an interest in topics. Being an oldhippie you're probably been there read that, but here are a few sites I like to visit:

Obie, Thank you for this interesting news item. The breakaway sect I'm
associated with has taken to bungee jumping from a crane. I am terrifed of taking this leap of faith-and in a dress no less.
