LambsRoar Reply to Mr. Bill Bowen - Slander &am...
by RevMalk into those of you who have had the misfortune of receiving mr. bowen's silentlambs newsletter.
unfortunately mr. bowen feels the need to lie to you all, and slander the name of abuse survivors he claims to protect and serve.
a copy of his most recent attack is below my short response.

Silent Lambs/Bill Bowen..Who rejoices now?
by wasasister inhaving read the exchanges between rev, bill bowen, and others involved in the silent lambs website, i honestly feel sickened.
i remember when i first started to hear rumblings that "something big" was going down regarding the society's handling of child abuse.
i was overjoyed because i had first-hand knowledge of several atrocities in this regard and was hoping against all odds that a major upset would force them to change their policies.

Hawk, Being the media maven that you are, do you know of any site that exists such as the one at http://www.poynter.org/column.asp?id=46 that has an "abuse tracker" concerning JW abuse? Something of an independent nature (not discussion boards) where articles only can be viewed on the subject daily? Thanks in advance for your reply if you know of any.
Btw, Happy Holidays! {{{Hawk and family}}}
Cheers,

Letter From Bill Bowen
by Lin inthis message was originally sent out by bill bowen on the silentlambs mailing list: .
i wish to explain some of the events of the last couple of months and let everyone know where silentlambs.org is going from here.
in october of this year i was approached by a webmaster, rev, who offered to provide server space for silentlambs and set up a new website.

Dear Rev,
they don't need me
I know they don't but the survivors do. Please don't bail on this project until it's a bit more established. I realize some things may make you twist inside but you've brought this thing this far-see it through if you possibly can. The site needs some continuity. I think you've proven to the survivors that you're in it for us. You're easy to talk to and that means a great deal. Your absence would be such a loss on so many levels. Please give it some thought. I can't see anyone filling your shoes.cheers,

btw, I see Lin a few posts back. She's one of my fave posters there too.

IS THIS A HEALING PLACE?
by hamptonite21 inmany come to this board with wounds from the past in the jdub dom.
sometimes this place just pours salt in these wounds, attacking peoples character and support groups that people seek refuge.
(ie silent lambs) im sure in disgust many have vacated the board.

I'm sure in disgust many have vacated the board. Why is this?
Hello hamptonite21, I was hoping you were going to ask why others have stayed? The ranting, the attacks, the support, friendships, information and the break ups just to make ups are all a part of who we are. There are as many reasons for leaving as there are posters who have left. The most positive of all are those who have found their place in the world and have "crossed over." They are no longer exjws even though they are long gone from their respective KH's. They just "are." Anyhow, in my mind these few have found true happiness in spite of the scar tissue that they will always carry. Posters like AhHa, Mark and Stephen come to mind when I think of the cross overs. I love them and miss them and would love to hear from them but would never wish them back. My goal is to be where they're at someday.
Yes, this is a healing place for all of us who choose to remain here at this particular point in our lives. Tell your friend there are times when we love as well as hate each other with a passion(usually only temporary with the latter ). :) We mirror a real family and the real world in this respect. It's nothing unusual or to be alarmed about.
I was once afraid like you to share my thoughts. Now a few years later I could care less. People can say what they want. And they will. :) I'm a better person for having hung here and run the gauntlet. You will be too. Stick around. You may even make some friends for life and you'll know when it's your time to cross over.
cheers,

Do you really need liquor at a wedding reception?
by ronin1 inthis is in response to the post on december 10, : "a wedding gone bad"-.
the question: do you really need liquor at a wedding reception?.
here is my story:.

ronin1, Congrats on 8 years of marriage and a very memorable wedding and reception. While serving liquor is not mandatory imo a bit of champagne or wine enhances the celebration-not detracts from it. Hiring professional mixologists(not a friend of a friend) and no beer will eliminate much of the uncooth drunken disorderlies in the crowd. :) Also, having the bar shut down an hour or so before the reception's end helps too.

Follow that link and see it with yer own eyes. This changes nothing.
The positive change I see regardless of whatever loophole will be used is that clergy members were added to the list of professionals required to report. It is in writing. Is this not a good thing-a start at the very least?

Abuse bill includes state clergy
MICHIGAN The Detroit News
By Kim Kozlowski / The Detroit NewsCatholics hailed a bill passed Wednesday by state senators that would require clergy to notify civil authorities of any suspected child abuse that comes to their attention.
The bill is expected to be approved by representatives before they recess today, which would add Michigan to the growing list of states that require clergy to report suspected mistreatment of children.
Under the law, if someone reports a suspected child abuse case to any minister, priest or bishop, the church representative would be legally required to contact state child protective services -- even if it involves another clergy member. That reverses a policy that contributed to one of the worst crises in the American Catholic Church.

JT, Check out Poynter online- has an abuse tracker. Archives every article printed on the subject. http://www.poynter.org/column.asp?id=46 I read where Mahoney from the LA area makes Law look like a boyscout.
