"We can however be critical of them autographing bibles for cuban dictators"
isnt nice to see the governing body being so humble, meek and not seeking their own importance?.

i was pretty young in 1975, all i remember was a few complaining at the hall after and those at the door that razed us over it.
does anyone remember how they went about denying it and when this started.
i do remember a scripture in psalms about people being mighty and living longer so this was used.
"If anyone has been disappointed through not following this line of thought, he should now concentrate on adjusting his viewpoint, seeing that it was not the word of God that failed or deceived him and brought disappointment, but that his own understanding was based on wrong premises".
Right. I believed what you told me and its my fault for doing so. So I continue to believe what you tell me? I don't save for my retirement, I just believe that "Millions now living will never die".
BUNK.
what is the .org's stance on hebrews 8:11 using the nwt:“‘and they will no longer teach each one his fellow citizen and each one his brother, saying: “know jehovah!”* for they will all know me, from the least to the greatest of them.
" or the kjv "and they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, know the lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
doesn't this scripture indicate that we are no longer required to "preach the good news"?

since leaving watchtower i kind of hit the "reset" button in my mind and reevaluated what i thought i knew, what i believe and i require proof for every idea put before me before i commit to it.
lately i've been fascinated with evolution.
as a jw i never even looked at the subject, dismissing it as "just a theory".
Watched an interesting take the book of Genesis and creation vs evolution Netflix.
so i thought my purpose was to serve jehovah and get baptised.
where do i go now to get baptised?
is baptism even a requirement for serving god or was that just for the disciples and people of that time.
Never felt the HS, but I do still pray every day. I am not sure about praying to Jesus just yet but I do pray.
Not everyone on this site is atheist or agnostic, some are like me...just not looking for organized religion, and certainly not looking for the JW version of the 'truth'.
unsures's way seems like a good way
"That is the way I pray. I open up my heart, try to humble myself, and wait."
just looking for some advice.
i know there has been a lot of discussion around the book 'crisis of conscience' and copyright infringement on this forum.
hence the reason for my question.. in 2004, i couldn't believe my luck in finding this book in the city library.
I purchased one in 2012. Didn't realize there was an issue buying one now. The .org handing that printing now too?
just a simple " we are sorry " .
.
Yup. WT March 198 - where they blamed everyone else for believing what they were told. Shame on you followers, for believing what we said!
My parents never saved for retirement...."we just never thought we would still be here!"
Shame on you GB!!!!!!
i have been out for nearly 40 years now - baptized at 14 (although not to the org), but faded away.
but i am wondering about this:.
aside from the obvious power they wield, what's is in it for the gb?

-By his account, it was not a question of his "waking up" all of a sudden but more of a gradual disturbing dawning of awareness that the men he shared the top table with were above all else wedded to preserving the organization. They were not particularly prone to having their consciences pricked by whether or not a Scriptural basis underlay their edicts.
Well said!

Thank you all for your responses. I personally don't think they are deluded in so much as they know full well that they are changing a doctrine, change a word here or there = change the meaning, blame the RF if you believed what they told you (circa 1975), misinterpret to keep those believers in line, change the wording in the Bible to suit your teachings etc. If you read Franz's 'Crisis of Conscience', he states that most of the decisions were made without prayer; aka no discussion with God; so really, they know darn well what they are doing.
Again thanks everyone - oh and I really enjoy this site, so thank you to all who participate.

Aside from the obvious power they wield, what's is in it for the GB? Are they getting rich? Are they drawing salaries?
