I remember being told this story, or some variation of it, when I was very young. This story is “the truth”.

How many JDubs would believe this ridiculous statement?
by Sour Grapes ina circuit overseer or a member of the gibbering body is giving a talk about demonism and he says the following, "there was an elder in a congregation in california who let his 8-year-old daughter watch disney movies that involved witches, gremlins, magic, and sorcery.
many may feel that they are harmless movies and are just entertainment.
well, the 8-year-old daughter actually brought a blue smurf doll to the public talk and watchtower study.

You’re not being judged no matter what you choose to do for your children. If getting them out and running away (leagally) is a viable choice then do it. If staying in to keep the peace is the best option for everyone involved then I would understand and support you regardless.
I ran away. I’m glad I did.

Caves: honestly I am not completely unraveling. And all signs point to that I should! I feel as if they made me grieve them years ago.. now confronted with the physical deal I feel somewhat removed emotionally, and physically.. so maybe I have the perfect storm to survive this and keep getting better!!

Ex elder: I understand where you are coming from. If they don’t want me there I don’t want to be there. I’m to the point I just want peace and healing. If going up there will rip open raw wounds I’m not interested
Zeb: nothing they do surprises me. Is it normal to exclude someone from a funeral and expect them to pay their dues? Absolutely not.. so that’s basically what I should plan for. I’m willing to contribute in anyway I can without harming myself to keep them satisfied.
Blown away: you’re right.. I would have to go to the kh. And probably sing songs.. see all those people that hate me... excuse me while I go throw up now.. lol

I had a thought that it is entirely possible for them to pull off a funeral without even telling me. I believe this is true because I personally have been involved with the process of specifically excluding someone from a funeral, with my family.
I got to thinking is this unique to my family? Or is excluding people from funerals (siblings, parents, children) common in this community?

I do think they are lying corrupt hypocrites.. however I don’t feel that the ones I run into in a day to day basis are. They are lying yes but they are regurgitating the lies they have been told. They are truthful as far as they know.
im not talking about the governing body.. they are jerks.

I know what you mean about them invading your space.
i went to visit my mother in law (non jw) in the place she was living.. I saw the memorial flyers on the table, but I I didn’t say anything.. it did feel like an invasion!
she was the best though! She saw me spot them, got up from her puzzle, picked them all up, crushed them really good, and threw them away.

But we are not painters. We are delivered a direct message from painters, you can’t handle it, but not “inspired” because sometimes we paint outside of the lines.. but we only do what the painters tell us..
