To me, it's harder to imagine going from nonliving to microbe than it is from microbe to human.

"No God, no complex organisms. Same as nature truly speaks."
Well, then, based on your logic you have to apply the same principle to God. I suppose there was some uber-god who created god,and on and on.

Wrong. We share a common ancestor. Would you at least read the faq at talk.origins before posting nonsense? Sigh, I dont know if i'm gonna continue with this thread. Why do you bother to argue about something when you dont even know the basics?

You ever look at particles of dust floating in a sunbeam coming through a window? That dust particle is the earth. The sunbeam is like our galaxy. Our galaxy itself is like a mote of dust compared to the universe. How life got its start is still unanswered, but when you think of the scale of things, the fact that some unusual chemistry happened on this particular dust particle is not hard to imagine.
When you think about how microscopically small we are compared to the universe it's hard to imagine that we are in any way important. As(i believe) Richard Feynman said "The stage is too big for the play"
In reply to pomegranite's asinine post about "unfit apes", if they were unfit, they wouldn't have survived. The fact that they are around shows that they are perfectly fit for their environment.

CAN RESTITUTION CHANGE THE ETHIOPIAN'S SKIN?
"From Black to White He Slowly Turned"
Parkersburg, W. Va., Sept. 8. It has fallen to the lot of the Rev. William H. Draper, pastor of the Logan Memorial church, of Washington Conference, A.M.E. church, of this town, to give a living affirmative answer to the famous Biblical question, "Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard his spots?" Though once as black as charcoal, the Rev. Mr. Draper is now white. His people say that his color was changed in answer to prayer . Many years ago Draper was employed by a fair-skinned man, and he was often heard to remark that if he could only be white like his employer, he would be happy . While in the white man's service Draper `experienced' religion.
From that day forward he prayed constantly and fervently that he might become white. Thirty years ago his prayer began to be answered. He first experienced a prickling sensation on his face, and upon close investigation found a number of small white spots scarcely larger than the point of a pin. He became alarmed, thinking he had some peculiar disease but he did not suffer and aside from the prickling sensation felt nothing unusual. Gradually the white spots became larger and extended themselves, until now, after the change has been in progress for over thirty years, Draper has not a single dark spot on his body.

President Bush's speech
by Mulan ini wanted to hear the president's speech tonight, but can't stand listening to the man.
he has a prepared speech but he keeps saying nuc-you-lar instead of nuc-le-ar.
i can't stand it.. you would think his people would walk him through correct pronunciation.

"The government consists of a gang of men exactly like you and me. They have, taking one with another, no special talent for the business of government; they have only a talent for getting and holding office. Their principal device to that end is to search out groups who pant and pine for something they can't get and to promise to give it to them. Nine times out of ten that promise is worth nothing. The tenth time is made good by looting A to satisfy B. In other words, government is a broker in pillage, and every election is sort of an advance auction sale of stolen goods." [H. L. Mencken]

Some musings...
by SYN ina little braindump from yours truly over a period of about fifteen minutes... .
you look at the poster on the wall directly in front of you, amazed at how the subtle femininity of a beautiful girl has been reduced to a series of interlocking spirals of colour too small to see.. you peer at the community newsletter next to your keyboard, which is strumming with the buzz of your fingers smashing down the keys several times a second, marvelling at the way you are able to perceive the tone and tint of the writing, how you can pick apart the grammatical flaws with a practised (sp?
) hand, and yet you do not even know how to spell the word "practised".. you laugh when you realize that the printing of said community newsletter probably cost the lives of more trees than any community program will ever create.. you get an email, your computer announcing it by beeping from it's position betwixt your feet, and you read it.
