Totally agree with Crazyguy! But it's easier said than done. That is how my husband woke me up, by pointing out jw doctrine doesn't agree with bible. It's so hard though when I talk to relatives because I find myself talking bad about the org and that's the worst thing you can do. They will automatically shut down and think your possessed or something....anyways feel free to vent anytime. Many people here know all too well what your going through and it's nice to know your not alone, and some have it worse unfortunately... just think positively and don't let it get you down. Sending lots of loveš

Family
by Stella3 ini posted a month or two ago about my recently disfellowshipped sister who was feeling massive amounts of shame and doubt.
i moved out of my home state 5 years ago so she has come to visit me twice since she has been df'd and she loves it here.
i am a recovered alcoholic (5 years clean and sober) and spend my days with the most amazing non judgmental people i've ever met.

5 Ways our Lives are Better Since We Left the Jehovah's Witnesses

1. Not having to worry about my babies becoming good spiritual jws, this worried me alot. I never even liked the idea of teaching them that certain cartoons and holidays r wrong. I dreaded when those days would come, "thank god" I woke up before they did! š
2. I can have goals that I actually WANT to have, not ones I'm pushed to want...even though my husband was a pioneerand we were in very good "spiritual stance"in the congregation, we never felt like pioneering was for us but we felt guilty because this was a natural goal every jw should want in life!
3. Not feeling guilty for every little thing or feeling like you're never good enough. ....you can always do more!
4. Appreciating the beauty of life a lot more and living in the moment! Enjoying truly every minute! Life's too short!
5. Knowing that I will give my kids the true best life ever and knowing that no matter WHAT they do, I will always love them and they will ALWAYS be in my life!

Is it me or were the experiences at the assemblies really contrived?
by keyser soze inmy favorite were the ones where they were reading a wt publication in the break room at work, and an inquisitive co-worker, thirsty for spiritual knowledge approaches them.
this leads to an informal witness, which eventually leads to bible study and baptism.. in all my years of working, i've never had anyone show the slightest bit of interest in what i was reading while i was on my break at work.
but as i said, maybe it's just me..

This actually happens all the time during mid week meetings. JWs are constantly required to tell uplifting positive stories about whatever method they were supposed to be working on in the preaching work that month. For the few who actually tried it or had a chance to try it on someone who would actually open the door, didn't mean they would get a positive outcome from it. I remember all the time the elders on the platform would have to literally beg for someone to raise their hand, then my poor husband feeling sorry for the guy (because he was an elder and knew how hard it could be) would raise his hand, and I knew some BS was about to come out lol. Everyone is forced to exaggerate the truth all the time, and even end up believing their own bs sometimes. It's all a bunch of Bull S&*#.....

You are so right about that, life isn't over til it's over. Enjoy every second of it, don't waste anymore time in it. Make your fade as quick as possible. Just to not be tied down to this organizations rules and requirements is freedom enough!

So glad your awake. My husband and I just woke up as well. All I can say is there are alot of emotions your going to go through for the next few months, mostly anger...just know you can always vent here. I have my husband to vent to so it helps. He woke me up, I wrote a post a here on how he helped me if your interested in helping your husband wake up. Here's the

Don't believe anyone is up there listening - said a prayer anyway out of sense of obligation
by Zoos ini've read many statements on this forum from people who have expressed the sentiment that you don't shove ttatt down the throat of an older person.
it would be too traumatic and its best to let some people, in some situations, simply pass on in the delusion.. its humane.
merciful.. in the initial roar of my awakening, i was unable to cuddle up to that sentiment; preferring, instead, to shove the blood curdling shock of truth down the throat of anyone i could get my grip on... age be dammed.

You did good, sometimes we have to put our pride, beliefs, etc, aside in order to do the right thing. And this is ddefinitely one if those moments.
