  as opposed to blind faith/cognitive dissonance and honest mistakes.. i'm inclined to think they have the best of intentions and are just wrong (primarily because the bible is wrong), but i'm willing to consider the evidence otherwise..

  Let me ask a couple of questions:

  "I have not the slightest doubt that they know they have misunderstood the blood issue". From what I read on your other post, I agree they're wrong, even from a scriptural point of view. But what makes you think they know they're wrong?

  What makes you think they know that Jerusalem was not destroyed in 607 B.C?

  Regarding the UN, what were the real reasons, in your opinion? I've read about the subject, but I haven't read anything claiming they had hidden reasons.

  I'm not disregarding the rest, BTW :) These just happen to be the only ones I have question marks about.

  actually i find that many derogatory comments here are extremely biased.

  i think most of them are amazing people, and i wish more non-witnesses were like them.

  TD We could quote another "book" in the Bible, like the book of life in Philippians 4:3 or the book of the living which is equated with having a righteous standard in Ps 69.28.

  TD well supposing the Bible is true (which I don't believe), a person's name today is either in Rev 3.5's book of life now or it isn't. At Armageddon, he will survive or die based on whether his name is still there (he remained faithful) or not (he hasn't).

  TD but the book of life is opened at the end of the 1000-year reign. Isn't it explicit in Rev 20?

  While the Bible mentions our names being in the book of life of not even in our days (Rev 3:5 for example).

  Or am I missing something?

  Lol, my OP actually got downvoted :D Maybe someone didn't like the fact I was open to considering the evidence in favor of the GB having bad intent :P Fanatic apostates give apostasy a bad name :)

  Vanderhoven "unwillingness to admit to the magnitude of the child sexual abuse problem", that's not necessarily bad intent. I don't publicize the extent of my mistakes either. And I'm pretty sure the Bible didn't publicize the extent of Abraham's, Moses', Isaiah's, John Baptist's or Peter's mistakes either.

  "Using lawyers to stave off judgments in favour of the abused" sounds like bad intent. Do you have any links?

  A chance for the unrighteous?

  the witnesses teach that the "unrighteous" are brought back to life in order to learn about god during the 1000-year reign.

  i don't think that's a bible teaching, for the following reason:.

  BlueBrother well the capital sin in the Bible is to reject God. Jesus praised Jehovah for hiding the truth from the arrogant. If those fighting Covid 19 haven't accepted the truth, well, Jehovah hasn't led them to it. In a JW's mind their selflessness just attests to the beauty of Jehovah's qualities, that are reflected even in those who refuse to acknowledge his sovereignty. Besides they will add that "the door is not closed yet" and that they might even die and be resurrected as unrighteous.

  I don't believe in any of it now :) I find it an interesting, elaborate construction. Back then it was enough for me to focus on all the good, nice, rational things in the "truth" and keep going. But the more I studied the more I discovered flaws, until it became unbearable and I left.
