It seems to me that there are just a few who are spoiling things for everyone else. Some people have to have an opinion on everything! If everyone agrees to leave out the insults and name calling and judging others (this being a big reason alot of us left the Borg), this forum will be a helluva lot nicer place to be. I also think that unless we can prove someone is a 'troll' it would be nice if everyone can trust each other and be supportive. This doesn't mean we can't have different opinions, just do unto others blah blah blah...

belly up to the bar, guys and gals
by unanswered inwith all the confrontation/negativity on the board these last few weeks, maybe we all need to sit back and have a drink, or a cup of tea or coffee, if alcohol's not for you.. seriously, i'm not trying to pretend that i haven't gotten caught up in the negativity at times, or trivialize important issues/feelings, but things haven't been as fun, lately.
i've noticed a change even in the short time i've been posting.
i didn't start this topic to point fingers or to act like my opinion is somehow special, but wouldn't it be nice for all of us to see an increase in civility?.

Who rules your life?
by shalom intrue story - my aunties husband who is a new jw but not yet baptised wrote a letter to the governing body requesting permission to wear jeans to the meetings because apparently he is allergic to the fibres in wool pants etc.
he got a letter back granting him permission to do this!

I was hypnotised to quit smoking and it worked. It was a great feeling, so relaxed and peaceful. Have never tried to hypnotise myself but would be interested to know how that works.

I also find it hard to believe that God or some higher power doesn't exist. I don't know much about evolution but find it a hard concept to come to grips with. Especially when I look at my very own little miracle of creation!

Hi all,
Waiting - I have just gotten Apocalypse Delayed out of the library and am going to read it as soon as I have finished Crisis of Conscience. Yes, I am going through a rapid deprogramming process! I was brought up a witness and stopped going to meetings when my mother was disfellowshipped and my sister and I were shunned with her! (My sister also posts here under the name Jezebel Influence). For six or seven years I lived in fear of Armageddon - until I discovered the internet and various literature that is revealing the 'real truth'.
I have been reading posts here for a few months and been in to chat a few times and have just recently been brave enough to add a few posts of my own! Cheers (sipping my chardonnay)- heres to many more in the future!shalom

(QUOTE)If Jehovah is your refuge people wont hurt you. Isnt that why we go to the meetings.
(/QUOTE)I am Jezebel Influence sister. She believed Jehovah was her refuge which was why she persisted in attending meetings and trying to be the best witness she could be. She was hurt as was I and many others who post here. When you are brought up this way from age 0 through your teens and more it can seriously affect you in every way. Being told you cannot mix with worldly people and then being rejected by the only people you are supposed to have contact with at a delicate time of your life can have serious repercussions. As Jez said she now has issues with anxiety and social situations. This is serious and I sincerely hope that by reading the experiences here Discom Girl makes the healthy decision not to limit her life to that of meetings and field service and JWS for friends but makes the most of her life and her teens and the time that is supposed to be the BEST TIME OF YOUR LIFE by having many friends and many experiences and SOME FUN!

somebody, the best 'label' or 'rating' I have heard so far is Jezebel Influence! My best JW friend was labeled this by an elder in the congregation I used to attend.

Anyone out there?
by Clark66 inmy name is clark.
i have been disfellowshiped since december 31, 1991. i attended the redwood city north congregation and was disfellowshipped along with an elder on the same night...you do the "mathwork.".
i am new to this sight (about 1/2 hour) and am not familiar with the format of the do's and don'ts ... or even if i should be here.... however, i have a question for anyone...(and i'm ready for the answers whether it be from over enthusiastic jw's or people who understand...or from anyone in between).. i was disfellowshipped because i openly admitted before 3 elders that i am gay and lived this life as a gay man despite being previously a regular pioneer and a ministerial servant.
