Blood Cards on File with the Elders?
by EyesOpenHeartBroken ini have a question for elders here or recent elders.
were the elders, in the last 10 years, given instruction to keep a copy of every publishers blood card on file at the kh?.
we moved to our current cong 6 years ago, and shortly after we moved in, the boe requested everyone update and give a copy of card to the kh.

Thanks Blondie! The article you referenced was the only recent thing I was aware of regarding the DPA/blood cards. I just was curious if there was pressure on the elders to have copies at the kh, or if the locals just took it upon themselves to enforce a mere a suggestion. -

We moved to our current cong 6 years ago, and shortly after we moved in, the BOE requested everyone update and give a copy of card to the KH. My husband questioned them about this, and they were vague as to the reason, and finally said sometimes people lose their card and then need it and so it's a good idea for the elders to have it on file. Then an elder wanted us to fill them out on the spot while he looked over our shoulder telling us what options to choose. My husband said "No, we will take them home to fill out." When we got home, hubby told me he didn't want ours on file. No need because we are each other's healthcare agents and our alternative agent is a relative from another cong. So we did that. But a month later they were hounding us again, so we conceded and gave them to them. The original elder was clearly disapproving of our how we had filled them out, and that we didn't list anyone from our cong on emergency contacts or healthcare agents.
We had never been in a cong that keeps blood card copies at the kh. So I was wondering if that was an organizational change or just a local thing?
It makes me nervous that they have a legal document that I signed. I am slowly fading, so far successfully, but my spouse is still "in". Does it matter? Or should I try to get it back?

Beards galore at the Assembly
by Truthexplorer inok, at our recent assembly, i noticed that there were quite a lot of brothers wearing beards.
not just the older dudes, but right across a range of ages, young men, middle aged men and older men.
is watchtower beginning to relax this rule at last?

Hi there truthexplorer. Maybe we were at the same assembly because I noticed the same thing. I heard a rumor that in one cong in our circuit 4 brothers wear beards and are "used", none are elders though. Apparently, all 4 got notes from their doctors about an extreme skin condition being aggravated by shaving. And they gave the notes to the elders. The elders then gave a local needs talk on not shunning those in the hall who wear beards due to a medical condition. Evidently, the talk had to be given because there was such a rukus about it in that cong as well neighboring congs. Hilarious! Grown men have to get a doctors note to give the elders regarding facial hair....? -

"And Your Little Dog Too...." WTS not content with taking kids' ice cream money, now they want them to give up their puppy dogs too.
by sir82 indon't know if anyone else caught this subtle but malicious photo from the 12/13/15 wt study article.. not sure how to post pictures here, but the photo is on the website's copy of the article, just below paragraph 12:.
http://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/w20151015/give-us-more-faith/.
note the 3 pictures in sequence tell a "story":.

Yup...our cong went crazy on that picture..saying even young children need to make sacrifices for the kingdom(i.e. no little dog) Multiple people commented on that scenario with true glee, saying how happy the boy was even without his beloved pooch.
With tears in her eyes, my 9 year old crumpled her magazine and stuffed it in her bag.
My heart breaks again...

'I Got You' -Shannon Johnson
by freemindfade inwith all the focus on the shooters and the rehashing the cowardly acts of those determined to spread violence and fear, i think its good to talk about those who are not cowards and its their names we should remember most to take the power away from the martyr cowards.

the Remnant
by Esse quam videri inwhen was the last time anyone recalls hearing the word 'remnant', in meetings or conversation?
is it something still discussed?
[i haven't attended in 20 years, so no idea].

I only hear JWs over 60 use that term...I don't believe it's been used in WT printed material for some time. Probably because the number of those partaking is no longer relevant to the "new light" on calculating when Armageddon will happen. 🤔 -

Disgusted By Today's WT Study 12/6/15
by JW_Rogue inno, not because of the message of deluding yourself into seeing the hand of god working in mundane wt activities.
that is to be expected from this org.
what really bothered me was the quote in paragraph one.

I too felt like I was gonna barf during the study. My face must have shown it too, because hubby kept asking if I was alright. The kicker was when my kiddo leans over after one of the "Gods hand" experiences was read, and whispers "What if they are lying?" And then I couldn't stop smiling. I've been planting seeds. So happy she is a thinker.
If these stupid WT articles don't fool a 9 year old, what is wrong with all the adults lapping it up?!!
Even my fully"in" spouse does not agree with the reasoning in this article-we have have discussed this subject many times. He usually comments at the meeting, but he did not this time.
It seems to me that the WT is very conflicted on this subject. Yesterday's study article certainly doesn't square with all the articles in the recent past which have "indicated" that "evidently" God does not intervene for individuals and the best one can expect is the strength to deal with difficult situations. And "apparently" only the greater good of the org will be protected.
Another thought that occurred to me during the WT---the article cited, as evidence of God's hand in action, all kinds of legal battles to protect the preaching have been won. But if God is interceding, why send lawyers to fight the cases, why not just send any faithful JW to court armed with prayer, faith, and conviction. Why is there an in house WT legal team? Their method for dealing with legal matters does not particularly indicate any overwhelming faith in Godly intervention.
Their methods belie their motives.
