Well, they came again. Really this time an Elder.
by rebelfighter inso after the 2 special pioneers visited i thought i had given them an earful about the arc and the pedophile problem in their organization surely they would have put me on the do not call list.. oh, no not my luck i get an elder and his lovely little mute wife with infant child in the stroller this morning at 9 am.
don't these people have a job to go to?
it was a car with 3 men & a woman.. we go through the standard do you read the bible yada yada, i tell them i know the routine very familiar with your game.

Rebelfighter--good job! Do not underestimate the power that a sincere householder can have on a sincere JW. It happened to me when I was a young pioneer. I remember three distinct conversations I had with householders in which I had absolutely no answers and when I researched, I found out the WT was wrong. That was almost 20 years ago and I only started fading last year, but those convos have continued to run thru my mind over the years. Better late than never...I am trying to exit with spouse while my kids are still young. -

I can't see them doing away with DF/DA/ shunning anytime soon--maybe they'll give it a new "theocratic" label or something to make it seem more innocent to outsiders, but Shunning is definitely at the core of the religion's power.
I agree with those who say they will acknowledge that 144,000 in Revelation is not a literal number. It would seem like really big "new light" to RandF JWs, but it actually wouldn't change anything for GB since the 2012 "new light" established the GB as the FDS. It would provide lots material for new speculation and excitement among the troops, all the while distracting them from the issues like child abuse and $$$. I could even see this as a way to generate more cash because some JWs will be so $$ appreciative $$ that the GB has opened the gates of heaven to more folks.
They have to keep 1914 and the overlapping crap, though, because that is the only way to keep their authority as the FDS.
"Oh what a tangled web we weave..."

So ridiculous! Constant micro management of the sheeple. I always find this aspect of conventions amusing. The list of pre -convention "reminders" goes on and on. And then I really love all the over staffing of attendants to enforce all this nonsense. All for GB bragging rights to news agencies. What a joke! -

Jehovah's Witnesses View of Jesus Compared to the Early Church
by cofty inthe following is an extract from something i wrote 16 years ago soon after leaving the watchtower.
i am posting it because it may help honest jws consider how far their beliefs are at odds with new testament christians.
if they have "the truth" then their attitude to jesus ought to reflect that of the apostles.

Kingdom Hall Attenders: Consider Stopping the Use of Loaded Language
by OnTheWayOut init's been a long time since i attended, but i understand that many of you still go to the kingdom hall for your various reasons.. a huge thing that helped me in my mentally breaking from their beliefs was to stop using their terms that put you, virtually automatically, into their thought mode.. using terms like "the truth," jw's feel special about themselves and this helps them separate themselves from "the world.
" by incorporating loaded language, jw's learn not to think, but merely to memorize words and phrases instead of analyzing a situation.. the reasons someone misses meetings is because they are "spiritually weak.
" they might be involved in "worldly thinking.".

OTWO--great post!
Another big one for me is not to use the term "faithful and discreet slave" or even "Governing Body"-- I just refer to those guys using their first and last names. Example: "David Splane said ..." or "Anthony Morris this and that..."
Its funny to watch some asleep JWs get very uncomfortable when you are a still in JW that refuses to use the loaded lingo.

NEW BLOOD CARD w/ FORCED COMPLIANCE also LEGALISM
by apocalypse ini have looked around and i don't see this covered, so i am starting a thread.. 1) the new "blood card" goes beyond being just a "blood card".. 2) a new edict concerning compliance.. pay attention to the changes.. first, the new card is termed "advance decision to refuse specified medical treatment".
the big change with the card itself is that it includes an 'override' of your "power of attorney".
this is huge.

JW Rogue and Level-- hate to burst your bubble...
Most elders rooms have a copy machine/ printer. 4 years ago, the elders in our cong hounded every last baptized person and insisted on making a copy right then and there at the KH. If a person didn't have their card in their wallet to photocopy, they handed them a new card on the spot and told to fill it out "right now" and then made a copy right then. This happened to us and we didn't stand up to them so they have a copy of the previous doc on file at the KH. UGH!! They were definitely signed under duress or at least extreme coercion.

Sins that can burn your buns.
by James Mixon inif you are a believer what sins can send you to sheol, hades, gehenna, lake of fire or.
second death???
in the ot there were many but what about the nt.. one web page listed 40 sins that can send you to hell.lol.

Cofty-not sure what you are asking.
James- I'm not the one to make the call on the folks you listed above. But I do believe a person who lives their life without a heart full of love departs from Gods love. And I don't believe in hellfire and damnation.
I have more thoughts, but I have a feeling you are not really interested. The OP was addressed to believers, but it seems I am the only non-atheist that wandered in.
Peace out.

A list of sins is a futile exercise. Jesus made it clear what is important:
1.Love God
2. Love your neighbor
Actions are merely a manifestation of the heart's motivation.
When I was a JW, I thought the above might be too simplistic. Now that I've given myself the time to ponder this without the background "noise" of JW interpretation, I see that it is simple, not simplistic. Not that it is always easy to live by the law if love, but when practiced it is transcendent. "Whoever does not love has not come to know God, because God is love." 1 John 4:8
To the OP--I'd wager there won't be burned buns. "God is love."
