Biblical Anachronisms in JW Literature
by neat blue dog inin a recent post ffghost made a comment about how they're always inserting modern concepts into biblical narratives to make it relatable to jw's organization.
here are some that come to mind:.
- the capitalized term "governing body" when referring to the older men in jerusalem (really just another group of christians that paul outspokenly disagreed with and didn't look to for approval).

@FFGhost
It's from 1959, which means most of the current governing body would have likely have actually believed this when they were younger.
https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1959722
Paragraph 15
"Actually the Bible is so old that it has three documents written before the flood of Noah’s day four thousand years ago. The first document contains God’s dictation to Adam of the basic facts about earth’s creation. The second document, called the “book of Adam's history” (Gen. 5:1), was written by Adam himself and was carried in the Ark through the flood by faithful Noah and eventually given to Moses, who incorporated the document as part of the book of Genesis in the Bible"

I really truly hope he doesn't hurt himself and eventually finds his personal redemption. His lack of personal accountability is what troubles me the most. Maybe it's some sort of a defense mechanism. Like he can't accept the grave reality of what he has done, so he has to blame his old religion and minimize the severity of his actions. In any case, it's not healthy and won't lead to any healing.
He also needs to stop worrying about what people are saying about him on the internet and get back to pulling the pieces of his life together.

I'm not sure if this is in the spirit of the thread, it's more historical revisionism than it is an anachronism. The WT publications used to teach that Adam, of all people, wrote a portion of Genesis and that Noah's family preserved copies of that portion of Genesis in the ark through the flood.
Also, quite recently, David Splane claimed that the whole of archaeology, historiology and geology are all WRONG because their demonstrated age for the Great Sphinx contradicts the Governing Body's unsupported and egregiously dogmatic interpretation of Genesis.

Jeez.
I would think that despite whatever anyone thinks of Lloyd as a person, his recent moral failings, or his career as an activist, that we could all agree that the worst thing that could happen here is if he killed himself. He seemed on the edge of doing so while making this latest video and admitted to having wrestled with thoughts to that effect throughout the ordeal.
Maybe we can be a little humane first and THEN worry about what a [insert preferred insult here] he is.

If all GB members died at once?
by Jofi_Wofo ini don't suppose anyone knows for sure, but do we have any kind of hint of what would happen if all of the governing body members died at the same time- such that nobody was left to appoint successors?
in lieu of any solid evidence, i'd also be interested in hearing some speculation based on what we already know about the organizational structure.. it would certainly throw a wrench in either the teaching that the faithful and discreet slave will survive into the great tribulation and/or the implied doctrine that the the gb succession arrangement is justifiable biblically.
let me firmly disclaim any implication that i am encouraging violence or wishing death on the governing body.

Let me firmly disclaim any implication that I am encouraging violence or wishing death on the Governing Body. I want people, all people, to LIVE with the concequences of their bad actions. I want to see all wrongdoers brought to justice while being fully aware that their facade has been torn away and that everyone then knows who and what they really are.
This is just a question meant for educational and entertainment purposes.

Confidential Letter from the Watchtower to all full time servants.
by pistolpete inthis is a confidential letter for all full time servants like cos, regular pioneers, bethel and branch workers so please don't tell anyone about this.. reminder 20,000 jws have died of covid and 99% of those who died or were hospitalized in the united states branch territory were not vaccinated, so whose fault is that???.
my question, how did they get the information that all these 20,000 jws were not vaccinated?.
hint; if you want to continue to share in spiritual privileges--------------------get vaccinated.
-
Jofi_Wofo
In typical Watchtower fashion, they leave the matter up to personal choice but encourage JWs to consider cherry picked information that only supports one course of action, and cherry pick the negative concequences of not doing that one course of action. It's their way of telling you to do something without telling you to do something.
It's fine to encourage people to get vaccinated, but the WT organization just can't help but to be sneaky and manipulative about it.

Lloyd Evans keeps doing parts on how the JWs are guilty of follwing the bible.
by mickbobcat ini have been watching evans videos for a while.
he keeps attacking the cult for following the bible.
women are to be subservient to men.

Another thing - Jehovah's Witnesses are indoctrinated to feel deep revulsion and fear towards anyone who criticizes the organization and its doctrine, not the Bible.
Householder #1: The Bible is an evil book that condones slavery, political imprisonment, sexism, homophobia and genocide.
JW: Many people feel that way. Let me show you why I disagree.
Householder #2: I saw this thing on YouTube about your religion and...
JW: Baaaagh, apostates! *runs away* *screams* JEHOVAH, JEHOVAH, JEHOVAH, JEHOVAH, JEHOVAH!!!!!

I always watch him on 2x speed.
I usually watch YouTube on 2x speed anyway, but Lloyd is a very slow speaker and I think most people, even those who speak English as a second language, could understand him clearly at 2x.

I don't see the problem.
It's not just that JWs follow the Bible, it's the pattern of how they interpret and apply it that gets to the heart of what the organization is really about. As much as I have a distaste for other churches, you can at least go into many of them as a non believer and not be hammered over the head about how disgusting and broken you are. If curious JWs can start to see the other side of things, their empathy can lead them in the right direction.
