Occasionally the actual physical conflict can change public opinion but I think the reality is that opinion has already largely been changed and we're just waiting for laws to catch up

I agree. I believe the whole point of this discussion is about making the police more accountable.

these men created an apostate (commercialized) version of the gospel of jesus and the new to come kingdom order, many from both inside and outside of the organization are starting to realize that .. your mostly likely are getting to be pressured and quilted into spreading about the wts's literature to the public in hours of service as they describe it, with all the attached false doctrines this organization's top leaders make.. you will be closely monitored by congregation elders to how you dress, the length of you hair your attendance, who you are associating with, what are you doing in your private social life etc.. you will most likely going to hear about people who were somehow associated with the organization have committed suicide.

The other things you mention have all been changed through the democratic process. That is the only way change can and should happen.

I take it you agree that policing will be much efficient if it is combined with better laws.

"changed through the democratic process" What you call the democratic process was a lot of protest like the suffragette, it took them almost decades for women to get the right to vote in the UK. They had to fight for it.

Often times, people have had to fight for their rights. Civil Rights movement, they had to fight for it. Apartheid it South Africa, they had to fight for it.

Interracial Marriage in the US, they had to fight and they went all the way to the Supreme Court. Once the law was found to be unconstitutional, policing became much easier. Leave and let live

No. While laws existed that targeted race and denied rights based on race, then there was institutional racism. Literally, it was in the institutions.

If you have racist laws, it is part of your system and part of your institution. There is no point in trying to sugar coat it.

The reality is that the majority of people want tougher policing rather than lax policing or the "no policing" which is now being discussed as though it's remotely realistic.

More people want efficient policing and not necessarily tougher policing. You can not deal with every major societal problem through policing. Law makers can do a lot to ease some of these problems. If you criminalize a lot of things in society, you will also need to be able to enforce those.

During the Corvid19 lockdown in the UK, lawmakers made a mess and when the police tried to enforce, they were met a lot of backlash from the population. The lawmakers were at fault for making a law that wasn't clear and difficult to enforce and without adequate resources.

Gay sex used to be illegal and policing it must have been a nightmare. Since the 20th century, criminal laws against adultery have become controversial, with most Western countries decriminalising adultery. What about marijuana? What about women being topless?

You have a systemic problem that tougher policing will not solve.

So yes, institutional racism existed until the late 60s and as a result, welfare policies were designed with a racist background. However the welfare never went away, the Dems simply rebranded them as 'good' and 'helping' and a generation of black people forgot the reason they were designed the way they are and is now wholly dependent on it. Breaking a dependence on free stuff is hard, even though FDR explicitly said that his policies were not intended to last, we have them, almost a hundred years later, in their original form and any politician that says he wants to get rid of Social Security and Welfare is committing political suicide.

You just simply confirmed that "Institutional racism" still exist and it is perpetuated by the Dems.

What a lot of people seem to overlook when talking about welfare in America is that removing it will not only impact the black community, but also white people. Apparently there are more white people on Food stamps in America.

That doesn't mean everyone who votes Republican will suddenly have their kids become rich, but it's statistically a better chance that within 1 or 2 generations you are lifted out of poverty.

Good point. That is also why claiming that voting for the Dems is doing a disservices to minority communities doesn't hold true. My take on the left vs right issue is this. They are 2 different faces of the same coin. Politicians are there to help themselves first and maybe the people after.

This has nothing to do with your race by the way, sure, any minority group will have it more difficult because they are a minority group and thus need to do more to conform, but likewise, minority groups that are lawful (eg. immigrants and racial groups alike) will almost certainly have their kids do better vs minority groups that are illegally residing here and kids with parents that are criminals.

Well, you can tell the above to the Jews during the Nazi Germany occupation. Being a minority and the difficulties associated with that is more complex than just being "minority groups that are lawful " . You can also go and tell that to the Native Americans and here is something about being "minority groups that are lawful"
