My first R movie was Stir Crazy with Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor. I took my new wife about a month after we were married. We have been watching R movies ever since. We saw the Exorcist several times. That is one of those movies that is as creepy today as it was back then. Great movie. BladeRunner is one of my all time fav. movies. The new one not so much. I wonder how many JWs secretly watch movies now that you can find links to pirated movies before they are even out in the theater and stream them. I bet some do. I know some wont. The real funny thing is what would have made an R movie in 1970 would be fine on TV today.

Governing Body trying to control marital relationships
by Whynot in4 years ago during the circuit overseers visit he asked a rather innapropriate question from the platform.
i say it's innapropriate because i think it's wrong to tell happy married couples how to love each other and much more wrong it is to tell them they should love their children less.. he said: "mothers, who should you love more your children or your husband?
" i think most mothers will quickly say you should love your children more.

What a stupid thing to even say from the platform. Not only is every situation different but its very Juvenile to do the what if type of question. Would you let your wife pose for playboy, If you had to chose a member of your family to die, bla bla bla. For kids its part of growing up, but for an adult to do it from the stage of a church is creepy and stupid.

Never heard of them using a particular movie. Did a quick search of JW library and nothing came up.

JWs and Guns.
by blownaway ini was told shooting guns and collecting them was not something a jw should do.
when i lived way up north us it was more of a deer hunting group and so some guns were ok, when i moved to florida it was different.
most people in the hall were not hunters.

Out of regard for those principles, spiritually mature Christians choose not to keep a firearm for protection against other humans. They know that true and lasting security comes to those who demonstrate trust in God by living in harmony with Bible principles.

Not according to a letter I received from the cult when I sent in a question about just that.

I was told shooting guns and collecting them was not something a JW should do. When I lived way up north US it was more of a deer hunting group and so some guns were OK, when I moved to Florida it was different. Most people in the hall were not hunters. My guns were some for hunting although I don't hunt any longer. I don't like killing animals, would rather watch them. But I carry a gun for SD. and keep a few loaded in around the home. I wrote some letters to the cult asking to clarify their position on the issue years ago. They could not answer my questions very well and it was just the old crap "it wold be better to be killed then bring reproach on Jehovah's name. " Anyone here carry CCW [concealed hand gun]?

Why the term "waking up?"
by Sour Grapes inis the term "waking up" the best way to describe when a jdub starts to have doubts?
to me, it is rather that a jdub realizes that what they have believed for years was a pack of lies and then they have to make a conscious decision if they want to continue to believe in lies or stop being a jdub or just go along for the ride.. it just amazes me how many die-hard jdubs there are despite every failed prophecy about the end coming, the borg being a part of the dreaded wild best united nations, the put down of women in the borg, the massive cover-up of the child abuse in the borg, the willingness to let a child die because they need blood, and the eagerness to shun a child who at the age of 10 got dunked to make mommy and daddy happy only to not want to be a jdub later and have the parents treat them like they are dead because 8 overweight, balding, goofy looking, incoherent men in upper state new york say that are the rules for being a christain.. jehovah's witnesses are a very sad cult that attracts people with emotional, psychological, or medical issues, have very large egos, can't make simple decisions, and believe in the tooth fairy..

They are asleep as to the facts of their cult. To wake up is to be aware.

Proof of God
by MrDantastic ini'm an atheist as i do not see any evidence for the existance of a god.
i encourage critical thinking in everyone and am ready to debate anyone on whether or not there is a god and what that god might be like.

Faith it's not irrational but beyond reason. - Brazil
That is sophistry. It's like saying astrology is 'beyond astronomy' or numerology is 'beyond mathematics'.
Reason it's based on faith. Reason is built upon premises of faith
That is a strange assertion. Faith and reason are diametrically opposed. Faith is what you use as a foundation for things you want to believe but for which you have no evidence.
Faith is not antithetical to reason. It depends on what its based. You can have faith in someone or thing based on. The Oxford Dictionary defines the word as "complete confidence or trust in someone or thing. " I have faith that the sun will come up tomorrow. Faith in religion calls for belief without evidence but you seem to want to give things very narrow definitions. You seem to be very dogmatic in your belief not much different from the religions you decry.
