I received a post from another person who remembers the tags and set aside seating for DFed at some assemblies in the North Midwest area. It seems it was not wide spread. One of the people who is published and worked at Bethal said that she knows it was not something that came down from HQ but will ask older ones to see if anyone remembers it. I thought it was everywhere. It reminds me of how in Northern Michigan they were very conservative. No parties for teens, dance parties especially, not going to any after school hours function ect. There was a JW friend of mine whos father moved up north for 75. When it did not happen he needed to feed his 8 kids so moved to California during the recession of the late 70s and 80s. My friend would write back telling me about the beach parties and other things that would be a JC hearing if it were in the Midwest.

DFed talking to other DFed
by blownaway ini don't know if they do this any longer but back in the day they had a special section at an assembly sectioned off for dfed people who would have to wear a ribbon that said disfellowshipped.
do they still do this and what was the rules on dfed talking to dfed at the assembly?

I sent a few emails and a couple of people are asking around. Could it be mis-remembered sure. But I don't think so. I will keep asking around on different forums.

I put this topic out on several other forums to see if anyone remembers this. Sounds like it was not wide spread or at the HQ direction.

I asked my wife and she does not remember it either but I do. I believe it was a circuit assembly a small one but could not say where. Northern Michigan, Canada area I would assume. Could have been some localized thing. I do remember it tough. But I would have been 7 to 9 YO. -

I don't think the area was a coral they had to stay in, it was a designated seating. Could it have been a one of. I don't know. I know they had seating in a designated area and a badge type ribbon that said disfellowshipped. I don't remember it after the 60s but I know it was several assemblies in our area as a kid at that time.

Have you ever considered trying ancestry.com?
by minimus ini was recently given a gift of ancestry.com and i’m curious if anyone else has used this service?.

I did it about 6 months ago. I was told growing up most of my heritage was England and Germany. I did the Ancestry.com and it came back 60% England and 35% Western Europe and 2% Scandinavia so they were not lying.

I can clearly remember assemblies where there were sections and ribbons. My mother pointed it out and said don't talk to people with that ribbon. This was late 60s.

JW funerals are sick, they are recruitment talks not funerals. Second I can remember a CO giving a talk at a CA and pulling a skull out of a paper bag saying if you wanted to talk to your DFed children or family members and Jehovah was in charge of this system this is what you would be talking to. What a fucking douche nozzle.
