The Bible-- Full of Errors And Inconsistencies?
by Recovery ini noticed in the "magic" thread many former jw's no longer adhere to the bible as the unerring and accurate word of god.
if you feel this way, can you please list any specific reasons/arguments as to why not.
this thread isn't for debating purposes, but simply for listing.

I noticed in the "Magic" thread many former JW's no longer adhere to the Bible as the unerring and accurate word of God. If you feel this way, can you please list any specific reasons/arguments as to why not. This thread isn't for debating purposes, but simply for listing. Having a collection of expositions all together in one thread will be a lot less time consuming. Thanks in advance to all who will take time to participate.

Jwfacts, Why Do You Equate Miracles With Magic?
by Recovery ini have a question for the author of the website jwfacts.
as i was reading the sparlock article, i couldn't help but notice something seriously wrong:.
"the bible abounds in vivid fantasy, such as its many celestial descriptions, or the portrayal of warring kingdoms with imaginary beasts.. the sparlock message is confusing, as much for an adult as for a child, as the bible shows that god's followers practice magic, even if they are usually referred to as miracles.

Some people seriously think I'm crazy and a lunatic (like the Conti thread). I don't know why, do some of you struggle with recognizing rhetorical sarcasm? Yes I am waaaaayyyyy past your help cedars. My mind is simply far too gone. I guess if I don't devote every minute of every hour reading Ray Franz 1200 page testimony I have just decided to not do any research. I guess if I start threads exposing obvious fallacies and asking questions like everyone else here does on this forum I am seeking attention and am a troll.
Does anybody else want to tell me what I am? Maybe someone can tell me if I'm obese or anorexic.

Dressing up as demons and ghosts and devils for Halloween = Fantasy. Does not attribute power to evil REAL evil spirits.

Yes, cedars. I am glad you see the obvious fallacy in such reasoning. This is the exact line of reasoning ChristAlone is following when discussing the issue of the Sparlock toy. It is a toy wizard, and is attributed to fantasy and not evil spirits and therefore should not be condemned.
" Harry Potter = Fantasy. Does not attribute power to evil REAL evil spirits.
"Cinderella/Fairy Godmother = Fantasy. Does not attribute power to evil REAL evil spirits."
"Pinochio = Fantasy. Does not attribute power to evil REAL evil spirits."
Sparlock the Wizard = Fantasy. Does not attribute power to evil REAL evil spirits."

Well they are both attributed to fantasy and are not attributed to real persons so why should either one bother our conscience?

That would be ChristAlone when he tried to dismiss the Sparlock situation simply because it is attributed to fantasy. It would also be all your other ex JW buddies who have been trying to divert the topic by cutting and pasting Wikipedia pages and talking about the UN/NGO issue.
Elderelite I don't understand your question, can you rephrase?

I guess I have to break down every little thing for ChristAlone to understand, otherwise he will belittle me and call me names like the big bully on the playground during recess.
Because Sparlock is not an actual wizard, casting spells, and is attributed to fantasy, you are arguing it shouldn't be condemned. The examples I posted of oojiua boards, halloween costumes, depictions of rape and murder, and a plethora of what we find in today's entertainment can all be considered 'fantasy'. They are not attributed to real people, as real events, as actual occurrences, but simply fantasy.
By this line of reasoning none of God's laws apply when selecting entertainment since it is all fantasy and not attributed to actual occurrences.
ChristAlone's reasoning, not Recovery's.
