As others have mentioned, something(s) did not sit well with me too.
Just glad that I got out when I did.

forced to choose between beliefs and family.
“no one should be forced to worship in a way that he finds objectionable or be made to choose between his beliefs and his family.” that statement appeared in an article entitled “is it wrong to change your religion?” in the july 2009 awake magazine, published and distributed widely by jehovah’s witnesses.. nearly everyone reading that statement would consider it to be mere common sense.
Great post Roger. Definitely bookmarking this one!
that's what i've been told by a family member (elder) who went to one of the regional conventions in the north of the u.k lately, who told me the 300 or more disfellowshipped who returned to jehovah by attending show that the end is so close, just like the final talk says..
I know of some DF'd who attended for very reason to see their families and re-establish some contact or to ease tension ... Stirred
I'll hazard a guess in that 90% of all returnees only go back for the reason to regain their family!
i know or think i know that trump is bluffing and acting very bully like with threats of unleashing his power as commander and chief a military with super weapons.
but why bluff with such boyish stupidity?
i think mr trumps barginings skills are at an all time low and so the threats of violence and retaliation for misbehaving according to the whims of a narcissist.. my confidence in him is at an all time low, talk about cave man club you over the head approach to problems this guy takes the cake.
Let's hope that cool and rational thinking people of both governments tell these 'hotheads' Trump and Kim Jong-un, to tone down the rhetoric. Seriously, who needs another bloody war!
i have noticed, from reading posts on this and other related websites, what to me is an alarming practice taking place within the jw's.
and that is the baptism of kids.. on a recent discussion posted by pe ( video of the girl now forced to shun her sister) this child was baptised at 9 years old.
all of us who were baptised at a much older age know of the many questions one needs to give serious consideration and understanding of to become eligible for baptism, not to mention the two baptism questions asked before being dunked.. surely the organisation must know that children of such a young age are not mature enough to fully grasp the seriousness, demands and consequences of making such a decision.. another point; if jesus is the example to follow, then why did he only get baptised at age 30, and he was perfect!.
Many thanks to you all for posting. I think it is plain for all to see that the org is getting desperate and therefore guilt trip as many people possible into baptism - including children.
i always found it uncomfortable to informal witness to people but trying to convince a jw to jump ship brings much more pleasure..
I am a lot more comfortable now that I no longer associate with the org. I have never went out of my way to convince those still in to leave, however should the situation arise, I will endeavour to plant seeds to hopefully give the person pause for thought.

I would be interested to hear of your views on this.
this poor girl was baptized at 9yo.
.
she isnt old enough to buy alcohol, to vote, to decide her own medical treatment, to buy a pet, to travel alone... yet she was deemed old enough to dedicate her life to a religion that will cut her off from her family if she ever leaves.. here she is applauded for shunning her own sister who tried to keep in contact with her after waking up.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yzgnfda8ki.
This is wrong on so many levels.
That child is in a very difficult situation. No doubt she was 'pressured' by her parents to get baptised, and at such a young age did not have any real understanding of the seriousness, demands and the consequences for making such a decision. Now she is being pressured by her parents and others to shun her sister. Deep down she is most probably distressed about it and has no choice but to put on a brave face. It must be terrible for the older sister too.
And as for the parents, sheeeesh, can't they see that their family is being torn apart!
I'm just glad that I didn't have to go through all that crap during my pre-teens.
a continuation from part 3, which is here: https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/4807117397557248/short-life-story-part-3#!#4918071166763008.
my wife had settled into a routine of waking up at 6am each day, cleaning (so no chance of a lie in for me or our daughter with the vacuum cleaner going), eating very little, picking the skin off her lips while she sits there in a trance obsessing over things that are out of our control and dont matter anyway.
she never did return to work.
Hi PE
I enjoyed reading all 4 parts of your story. Thanks for sharing.
... She tells me that our sister in law had been on my computer, been on my internet history and taken pictures of what i'd written on this site. She then reported me to the elders ...
If your sister-in-law did not have your permission to use your computer (and then to snoop around) I hope you gave her a good tongue lashing!
