Never give up!
by stuckinarut2 ini just wanted to share a quick thread to remind us all to never give up hope that our loved ones who are still mentally trapped in the org may one day wake up.. when i first starting waking up i never thought my wife would also awake.
i have always loved and respected her ability to think and reason, but i assumed that the hold of the organisation would always have its grip on her.. but slowly, and with patience, i shared some things i had learned, and the results have been amazing!.
my dear wife, who posts here under the name "unstuck" is so fully awake along with me.

Effectiveness of exposing child abuse
by Tallon inthought i would try and gauge your views on the effectiveness of current child abuse exposure within the jw's.. i am aware of the arc investigation into historical and current child abuse, the uk charity commission investigation, and the excellent work of trey bundy.. however, how effective has the above been in exposing child abuse?.
would not an investigation in the manner of spotlight, be more effective in exposing it to a wider audience?
to prove that the abuse is 'systemic'?.

What was it like being a JW in the 1960's and 1970's

i'm really curious what it was like to be a witness in the 60's and 70's?.
was the society as strict as it is today?.

My parents started studying with the witnesses around 1972. I was 9 years old - too young to really understand what was going on. My siblings and I studied the book 'From Paradise Lost To Paradise Regained'. Can't say that I remember much about it however, some of the pictures in that book were disturbing.
My life as a JW began in 1980 / 1981.
