  Difficulty fading out

  this is my first post on here so i apologize that it is like an essay!.

  my husband and i are currently 'fading out' of the truth.

  we stopped preaching in may 2016 and limited meeting attendance in january 2017 and stopped completely in june 2017. my main reason for this was my whole life i have been doing things to please others, even getting baptized to please my mum.

  ... Maybe three to five years down the line you can really be viewed as inactive. But even then saying or being seen to do the wrong thing by friends or relatives who are JW's can be the short path to a DF.

  Hi Emily, and welcome to the forum.

  Some great advice has been given however, pay close attention to the snippet, above, which Freddo posted.

  Everyone has their own unique set of circumstances and unfortunately there is no easy way out of the Org. Basically, and I'm by no means making light of the situation, you can either go down the fade route, like myself and many others on this forum and have to continually be on your guard, or you can DA yourselves (and be damned with the consequences) and live your lives the way you deem appropriate.

  No matter what stance you take, there will be repercussions one way or the other.

  so i suffered through another one of these idiotic "encouraging" talks by tony vives.. he prattled on about loyalty, and pretty well concentrated on three areas.

  loyalty to ones marriage mate, which is no problem.

  if one is married they really do owe loyalty to their husband or wife.. second, he hammered on "loyalty" by having nothing to do with a df'd family member, even a child!

  You have my deepest sympathies FedUpJw, for having to endure through that tortuous 'monologue'.

  I agree with loyalty to one's spouse however, I call BS on the rest!

  They really do live in a 'fantasy world'.

  So my PIMO Younger Brother Tried To Kill Himself Today

  we all know that this cult will drive those trying to leave to desperate measures, and today by brother was very nearly one of those statistics.

  he slashed his thigh with a kitchen knife and was bleeding out until he called the police.. i got a call on my way home from work from a police officer, coincidentally it was one of my old friends from school who's now a cop.

  he told me my brother is in hospital after an attempted suicide and has lost some blood but will be ok. but i should get to the hospital as he's asking for me.

  Hi PE

  Very sorry to read about what has happened to your brother. Fortunately he is in the best place for the time being where real professionals - the nurses, doctors, therapists etc - will help him through this ordeal.

  As others have already mentioned, this is in no way your fault. No matter what happens going forward, always be there for your brother - he will never forget it.

  Strip away the Org and you'll find that they are good people just like all of us here on this forum.

  It's saddening to see these people waste away their lives for an organisation that is most probably the biggest fraud in history. Not to mention that the hierarchy think nothing of the R&F regardless of their status in the congregations.

  I'm not knocking the singers and musicians in this video however, the lyrics and music is embarrassing.

  Here's hoping that someday they too will break free from the org.

  Bought My First Christmas Tree Last Night

  last year i didn't bother with christmas as it still felt like a "nothing" day to me (thanks watchtower!).

  this is the 2nd christmas since waking up and leaving the cult and i've finally bought my first christmas tree:).

  i have no idea what to do with it though.

  Enjoy the moment decorating your xmas tree with your daughter. Don't forget to take photographs of her putting her personal touch on the tree. In years to come you and her will reminisce the event. These will be precious memories.

  Happy Thanksgiving 2017

  once upon a time, as a jw, i was afraid to buy turkey during thanksgiving time.

  while attending the thursday night ministry school meeting (on thanksgiving day), i was cautious not to mention the word thanksgiving, for fear of bringing reproach to bigj.. now, free at last, my happy thanksgiving wishes to everyone who celebrate this holiday..
