for shits and grins, i looked at an online sunday meeting a few days ago on youtube.
i was in disbelieve on just how silly everything looks with the watchtower reader reading from his little iphone and the watchtower conductor holding up his iphone to ask the questions.
then the conductor asked the reader to read a bible verse and of course, he reads from his little phone.

Lol … that is the most funniest thing I've read in quite a while.
good evening all, this is my first time posting.. been reading and following for two years.

it’s been an interesting 48 years of service to an organization!
Hello Deke and welcome to the forum.
We are all at various stages of our own personal journey escaping the Org - some further down the line than others.
You will find this to be a very helpful forum with a wealth of advice and guidance, so I encourage you to read up on the discussion topics that are of interest to you.
Looking forward to your posts.
hi everyone, sorry i didn't write or participate here for a while.
my second child was born.
i took time of work.
Well said, Alex.
PS: Congratulations on the birth of your second child.
i don't know if they do this any longer but back in the day they had a special section at an assembly sectioned off for dfed people who would have to wear a ribbon that said disfellowshipped.
do they still do this and what was the rules on dfed talking to dfed at the assembly?
I too have not come across this. Maybe this was something they tried locally and it never took off.
i was shunned in high school.. did i do something inappropriate?
nope, i was the perfect jehovah’s witness child.
i was guilty by association.
I'm option 3 - a 'Fader'.
I'm in my mid 50's and have no JW friends. My wife started to go back to the meetings from about the beginning of this year however, neither her or I get invited to any gatherings and no JW's come to our home.
Occasionally I might come across JW's in the town. Aside from a brief 'hello' that is as far as it goes.
I have been left alone these past 4 years and I don't go out of my way to give them any excuse to hassle me.
So for now I'm enjoying the status quo.
i posted this before, but my wife is upset and not handling it well.
her mother has alzheimer and is in a care facility for the rest of her life.
between medicare and caid she is paid for the care.
Hi Blownaway
Sorry to read of your predicament. My suggestion is as follows;
Your first and foremost responsibility is toward your immediate family, i.e. your wife and dependable members.
Thereafter, if you have surplus funds, you could offer to assist as you deem fit.
how bout ..... jehollywood or just jollywood.

angus stewart qc, senior counsel, has had a long and distinguished legal career, beginning with his passion for justice in south africa, fighting apartheid, then later working in the truth and reconciliation commission, and more recently acting as senior counsel in the case studies on jehovah's witnesses in the australian royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse.
angus discusses, from his own personal point of view, and not representing the carc or the commissioners, what the journey was like, learning about the internal law and policy of watchtower society, how he became determined to stand for justice for all the victims and for the whole community of ex jehovah's witnesses and how he felt about the evidence being presented to him and the people presenting it.. interview by lara kaput and louise goode for jw community podcast.. https://jwcommunitypodcast.simplecast.fm/cf4d380d.
They did well to get Angus to agree to doing this interview. Enjoyed listening to it and thank you for sharing.
over a period of time i got to thinking - what does the word 'apostate' mean to me.
having given it some thought, this is my view;.
the org has given the word its own definition and basically use it to demonise people and consider them pariahs.. however, the jw meaning of 'apostate' is a mere word and only has power if recognised as such.
Many thanks to you all for your comments.
It is interesting to see the individual and personal views on the matter.
