Hortenzie, now THAT is a plan I can get behind. I think you should tape it, and start out very sweet and nice. Ask to speak to their charitable giving desk.

Data dog.....for full disclosure, for a while I was a crossfit/Paleo disciple. To be honest, I never felt better than when I was regularly pushing myself, and eating clean.
I will make a very serious suggestion for you.
1) Google "whole 30" and do it. its a 30 day Paleo shocker kind of thing. It will reduse your cravings for sugar and processed foods and that is something everyone agrees with. After the whole 30, you will probably go back to a 90/10 split meaning, occasionally enjoy some pasta, or a beer. You will not enjoy the pasta or bread when you eat it after that long.
2) Get a probiotic, and make sure you don't have an ulcer. Ulcers are caused by bacteria.
3) Try it and give it a fighting chance, then decide for yourself what works well with you body. There are good and bad on the paleo diet. Some thrive on it, others find it very difficult.
4) Focus on eating REAL FOOD. Things you have to make or cook. Slow cooking (crock pot). Don't heat up olive oil. Use olive oil to make dressings, mayo, aiolis, or garlic toumne. Use coconut oil to cook with.
5) Organic, non-gmo, and grass fed stuff.
Do that, don't worry about calories, and work out 3-4 times a week. Its not easy, but its not that hard. It is actually pretty simple when you think about it. I like Crossfit. It isn't for everyone. But I dig it. I feel best when I eat this way. My whole family has weight problems, and gut issues. I can't tell you when the last time i had milk was. if i do drnk it, I drink non pasturized full fat milk, and have no issues.

Hortenzie,
I understand the pain and frustration. We all do. You are not stupid.
Lets however play this out. The GB STILL BELIEVES they are being ran by holy spirit. In a philosophical manner follow me here. You now percieve a different truth than they do, so you are saying you were lied to. They however actually believe their "voting" is by the guidance of the holy spirit. So what you are calling willfull deception, they would disagree with.
You have to take this new truth, and build a life. You gave your money to a religious charity. You regret it. That sucks, but too bad. People encouraging you to give it a try are showing support and that is great. I am telling you, you are responsible for your own actions. Take responsability......build a better life! That is the best revenge.
I have no personal experience of god and I had to take their word for it.
No.......no you did not. You and all of us at one time...DECIDED to take their word for it. Now we have decided against it. Let it go. Get happy!

Active JW's, can you defend "THE TRUTH?"
by DATA-DOG inas of yet, no member of the jehovah's witness faith can defend their unique beliefs.
when the dust settles, it all comes down to blind faith in men's ever-changing ideas.
this "unique belief" was not a "true teaching of the bible.

1904 Feb 15th WT. 52-53 in the bound volume. It clearly suggests God will "change the Ethiopians skin" to white when he receives perfection. Even gives an example of a young negro boy turned white.
My point though is not this article. There is plenty of racist stuff in the magazines all the way up to the late 60's. My point is that the magazines, are reflections of the time period they were in. Good Housekeeping magazine was incredibly mysogonistic in the 50's suggesting women be quiet when their husband gets hope from work, greet him at the door with a martini, and overlook his indescretions for the peace of the home. Nuts right!? But it reflected overall society at the time. We would not expect Good Housekeeping to be ahead of the curve.
We would however expect that of the only true religion would we not? I acknowledge this particular quote is pre 1919, but there are others. download an archive of pubs if you want. But honestly, most of these things have been picked clean. I realize JWfacts is kind of the boogie man, but the refferences are all there, and double checking sources is encouraged.
Either way DOT, I would love to discuss something such as the blood doctrine with you. I promise to only use scripture (rNWT) and secular sources. No "apostate" sites or suppositions. Feel free to PM me if you would prefer it be private.

Clarity,
I will NEVER DA of DF myself or them. want to know why? Because I can do more good in helping others to see things they would not otherwise, if I don't play their game. I have a friend who woke up, and is going basically now purely out of routine and for his family. I have someone else I know, that I think I am getting somewhere with.
These things would not be possible if I was persona non grata officially. (I am sure I am unofficially).
So it depends on what you need to do for your own piece of mind and sanity.

Hortenzie,
Nathan is not being negative, he is trying to shock you out of this attempt. Your best play in life, is to not waste time fighting. If you are really interested in seeing if that is a possibility, you will need to consult a lawyer......which will cost money.....and I do not believe you can be succesful.
See, there is something we all have to acknowledge about ourselves and others. Ina very real way, we are ALWAYS in control of what we do. Your former religion did not FORCE you to give them money. You decided to. Now you can claim they lied to you, or decieved you, and more......but it was still your free choice to give them money, go to the Kingom Hall, and more. You DECIDED to do those things. The reasons why are immaterial in a court of law, although of course they mean something very serious to us as individuals.
My personal advise, is that since you can't get the 15 years or $ back.....that you make the next 15 years your best ones! :)

DOT, have you considered what it means to translate ancient dead language? It is very difficult. There are multiple renderings and thoughts behind a variety of words. Even context can be difficult because bias and what people already believe is considered as context, when it really should be derived after accurate translation is produced. All translation is flawed.
I personally don't have amassive beef with the NWT or the revised version. I would suggest if it is something you are interested in, to go to "studylight.org". It is a free online resourse, that has multiple translations, and access to strongs and other commentaries/concordances. These are some of the same refference materials the branch uses in writing articles and doing apologetic article research. There was another thread I made a comment on regarding a marticualr scripture and the way it was translated. I referred to that site for some information, and drew my own conclusion about what I thought was reasonable. Like most things, it is usually in the middle of two points of view.
Heavens gate,
You are very much misleading in your comments regarding people on this site insisting on there version of "truth". That could not be further from accurate. People here (by and large), do not insist on their own opinion. Most here share the view that JW's are not the one true faith. Some have taken other religious faiths as their own, some have become athiest, some agnostic, etc... People here are individuals, that happen to be united by a common past.
People come here all the time. Some defend their faith, some ask questions, people can both agree and disagree with them. Nobody is our "enemy" here. You are welcome, and personally I enjoy respectful conversation. I never enter a discussion already assuming no matter what the other person says I will be right. I listen, adjust, and have to be willing to deal with that persons individual world view.
Perhaps it would benefit you to do that same? I am not exactly certain what the point is you were trying to make to DOT regarding historical context of 1945's teaching that jesus should be worshipped. That was very clearly a teaching of the society back then. They since clarified the word proskuneo, and what they believe its role to be. Worship and honor bear the same word in Koine. So back to translation.....context matters.
I agree that the cultural sentiment of the time is always important regarding the WT and Golden Age/Awake magazines. Organs were described as cannibalism. Some would play the semantic game that it didn't mean they were forbidden. Well i assume cannibalism is! :) So lets not be disingenuous. However, other religious groups held similar views. It was a scarey new time. Perhaps the worlds aversion to cloneing and DNA manipulation 50 years from now will be looked at much differently than now? I think the only reason that matters to people here, is that if you claim EXCLUSIVE truth, that shouldn't you be ahead of the curve? Teaching black people get to be white in the new world, that milk can cure cancer, and that Phrenology explains the Jews greed........may have somehow fit with early 20th century culture. But it was certainly not of divine origin....on any level.

The branch of course knows that the more people feel emboldened to engage opposing views (not neccesarily book definitions of "apostate"), that they will run up against things that cause the cognative dissonance that can eventually lead people to break free mentally. They can call it succumbing to false teachings all they like, and maybe even believe it, but they know the deal. So many thousands have left the organization for various reasons.
One thing that was always interesting to me, was the born again Christians standing outside of the convention. The attendants would refer to them as "apostates". My comment was always, why do you think they are apostates? They aren't ex-JW's, they are zealous Christians. Didn't we stand outside of Churches and hand out pamplets to people leaving their places of meeting?
This is when I was appointed and firm. It still didn't make sense to me.
But this is the genius of re-writing the words definition. Anything in opposition to your faith, even a family member who is "critical of the organization", is automatically lumped in as an apostate....a helper of Satan.....a group who has no more play in the ransom of jesus.
I mean it really is a trip.

Hmmmm. Well I went to Brazil once. I appreciated the art, but I also had my way with it (zing!). Brazil has a VERY sexual culture, it was almost shocking at times.
I think the normal everyday guy, likes a woman with some curves. The skinny model look are basically for magazines and to sell things we don't need.

I would say just mail them more money, hope it finds the money that you already sent them, and that those monies fall in love and get married and have babies. Then hope those money babies find their way home to you.
Its about as feasable as getting your donations back.
I know personally three people that have given the sale of their businesses to the branch. One donation was well over a million dollars. Crazy.
