I think a History forum is a great idea. I've done some stuff on the history of the Org before (see http://www.jwtruth.com/jwt/timeline.asp if you have a version 4 or greater browser).
The idea is that you can choose the subjects you are interested in and it will make up a timline with all the relevant events in it. I'm sure there is a lot of stuff that could be added to it though!

Watchtower History
by RR ini once offered this to obed, and he did seem interested, however, because of my being a free thinker, it didn't go too well with the jw moderators on witnet.. i had propose a history forum, where the history of the watchtower society could be analyzed, their beliefs, and practices, how they evolved, why they believe as they did or do.
such a forum will enlighten many to the organization they either once called or currently call 'jehovah's visible organization.'.

Re: May Jesus forgive me..
by Frenchy inroy, .
your absolution if you have any coming will be from god and not from humans.
your confession needs to be directed toward him and not us.. -seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it-

Don't worry TR...I couldn't have expressed things better myself. I have found many of these posts offensive as I'm sure other have.
AntiChrist: Does the 'Chicago Title Insurance Company' mean anything to you? Do you use their internet service at work perhaps? Do you think they would appreciate the types of posts you're making?
Roy D: This forum isn't really the place for issues like this. If you genuinely have these problems then I would strongly suggest getting some professional help or at least looking for a more suitable place to discuss them. I notice that you're posting from an anonymous remailer though which usually indicates someone just out to cause trouble.
Thanks you -

Serious Question
by Prisca inas we all know the society has very strict guidelines regarding conduct between the sexes.
in the cong i grew up in, it was so small-minded that if you were single, and seen talking to a member of the opposite sex, you were presumed to be in some sort of relationship with him/her.. sex before marriage is out of the question, with heavy petting also looked down upon.
dating is a serious affair, with all onlookers expecting engagement/marriage to be the outcome.

I think it does affect your ability to form proper relationships with others because in effect you have to pick the right person first time. If they aren't the right person you then date someone else and so on...you will quickly be labelled for doing this though.
I also think that the constant reminders about it means that its the only thing people think about! If a brother and sister ever are on their own together then it's the only thing on their mind. Other people elsewhere are capable of being friends without jumping on each other at the slightest chance.
I think the JW position is one extreme with the other being very loose, 'sleep with everyone', behaviour. Maybe the sensible course is somewhere between them both and exactly where depends upon each individual. -

Houses here are a lot smaller and more expensive. We looked at some houses when we were in Canada and what we could get there for £80,000 would cost well over £250,000 here...plus they aren't as close together. The hoses here don't tend to have basements and are usually brick - it's very damp here so wood doesn't do too well.
We live in a mid-terrace a bit like those on Coronation Street (you must get that...). Your's sounds just what we're after...wanna swap? -

Hi Chilli
We're finding our two lads a handful - three must be a nightmare unless they're very well behaved. Ours are nearly 2 and 4...how old are yours?
BTW: We're in the UK too...near sunny Manchester (will it ever stop raining...) -

Hi WanderingStar
Feel free to ask any questions you want - like waiting said, we have a pretty open policy here and only really take action when people are out to be disruptive (and even then, the action is usually just to ignore them!)
I can understand what a difficult situation you are in and without knowing anything more about the circumstances can only suggest that you do a lot of study and research to make sure that you know the truth. -

I could use a punch bag - they don't hit back! I wouldn't fancy doing the stuff where people hit you thoug...
I'd love to get one rigged up at home but we don't have the space.
