i wonder how many of you having read the 11 chapter of romans, see that the jews have not been rejected of god forever.. seems to me from the above verse that they were blinded to the truth, and that this blindness is temporary ... until the fullness of the gentiles, the gentiles, of course being those who would make up the church class, the bride of christ, the 144,000.. what say ye?.

Yes, it can be hard enough trying to keep forums civil and sensible without allowing free and open access. That said, I have though of having maybe one totally open forum that anyone could post to, even as a guest.

hello everyone, especially from witnet.

as long as i have been on the net, i hadn't used it for anything remotely related to jw until earlier this year.. i was looking into bb software for our company's site, and on the infopop site i saw a link for witnet!

since witnet closed, i have seen so much online, it's been a little overwhelming, lol.. i really enjoyed my time there, and i'll stop in here from time to time, if you can handle it.

I always found that working an hour with a young pioneer who was often on the platform and beeing praised usually ended up as two, three or even four hours after they 'worked it out' and made various adjustments whereas it took an hour and a half with an older one before they'd be happy that they had 'done an hour'. They weren't on the platform much though. Go figure.

Christmas Greeting!

a few years ago i met a women, former jw from queens, ny, she had left the society for various reasons, one of course, was the 'lack of love' within the congregation.. she started her own greetings card company for xjws, called great crowd greetings.. in going through my stuff, [the never ending, some day i'll get this basement cleaned up] i came across a card she sent me during christmas 1996.. on the cover it reads:.

"i bring you glad tidings ...".

on the inside it reads:.

dear all,.

i am a final year student midwife, and i would like some information on your views about the administration of anti-d or not in pregnancy and the postnantal period.

i work in a large hospital and have recently cared for a woman giving birth who was a jehovahs witness.

Hi Sadie
RHW is correct - the rules on blood have changed a lot recently but at the same time JWs have been told that nothing has changed which has resulted in a lot of people not knowing what the rules are.
Our family has experience of blood issues and pregnancy (my wife has a clotting condition) and it was only when we researched the issue that we found that our understanding of the societies current position was out of date. What is more, we found that the ruls did not make ANY sense whatsoever and that we were really ignorant of the facts. This is one of the things that made us seriously start to question what we had been taught for so long.
The relief on the consultants face when we told her we were not going to make an issue of blood and blood products was clear to see. I'm glad now that we didn't risk my wifes or my childrens well being over rediculous rules that WILL be or already HAVE been abandoned anyway.
Have you seen the links on blood that someone (I think Path) posted? You will find a lot of info there about the beliefs and how they have changed.

Serious Question

as we all know the society has very strict guidelines regarding conduct between the sexes.

in the cong i grew up in, it was so small-minded that if you were single, and seen talking to a member of the opposite sex, you were presumed to be in some sort of relationship with him/her.. sex before marriage is out of the question, with heavy petting also looked down upon.

dating is a serious affair, with all onlookers expecting engagement/marriage to be the outcome.

Darn it...the 'oral sex' word filter isn't working. Still it's not too bad is it. Oral usually means spoken so I guess it just means talking about sex...

Judicial Defense ?

it occurs to me that this forum has a vast resource of knowledge and experience.

i'd like to suggest we put our heads together and find possible defenses for active witnesses facing a judicial committee.

with frenchy's intimate knowledge of committee rules and rr's huge library, along with everyone's individual experience; we we should be able to build a logical defense (assuming logic is a useful tool to jw's).. from my own research, i have put together a logical defense for an active jw who wishes to associate with a da'd friend.

I agree...it's a good idea but being right does not neccessarily mean that you won't be DF'd. I've had this argument with a couple of elders - I say that the WotchTower org. has lied about their past and it is indesputable because it's in black and white, printed in their books and mags but they see this as irrelevant and the only thing that matters is that I am rejecting 'Jehovahs Organisation'. They do not play be fair rules and you are put in a no-win situation. The fact that you defend your beliefs automatically puts you in the wrong for just disagreeing with them.
I think the best defense is not to co-operate. Refuse to go to their JC meeting UNLESS you can take a legal representative (this sort of stuff is in Human Rights regulations here) and do not, however tempting, try to express your views unless you are confident that they will listen properly to them and consider them.
I have met both types of elders - some who dont listen and the reasonable ones who will.

My personal opinion is that if the bible is so ambiguous and hard to interpret or translate it kinda prooves it's not been given to us by God. Surely He should have been able to provide clear instruction if it's so important to follow it? Maybe it just a load of superstitious writings and traditions of a little middle-eastern sect.
